Kate Boozer: Michigan teacher, 28, covered classroom windows and had sex with teen student more than 100 times
LAKE ORION, MICHIGAN: A young man has opened up about an alleged sexual abuse ordeal he endured at the hands of a high school teacher when he was 16 and she was 28. Ryan Crue claimed that his high school Spanish teacher, Kate Boozer, had sex with him more than 100 times after covering up the classroom windows using black construction paper, Fox 2 Detroit reports. It is said that the alleged crime had begun in 2014 while Crue was in his junior year.
The alleged sexual assaults had reportedly occurred at the Lake Orion High School in Michigan. He has alleged that his relationship with Boozer, a young and attractive teacher, had gone from instructor and student to something much more. Crue shared, "It was after school one of the first times that there was any physical interaction that was incredibly inappropriate." He added that Boozer would give him gifts and would have sex with him in the classroom after making sure that no one could see them inside.
"We made a chore out of getting big sheets of black construction paper and covering every window in the classroom including even the small notch window in the door so there was no way to see in the classroom," Crue revealed. He even tried to drop out of Boozer's class in his senior year which led to his mother Nancy Hatalsky requesting a meeting with Boozer and the school administrators.
During the meeting, Boozer had reportedly cried twice which Hatalsky dubbed as one of numerous 'red flags'. The teacher would also call Crue late into the night as per a phone log he shared with the TV station. Hatalsky pointed out, "At 2:53 a.m. he is receiving a phone call from her."
"At 2:53 a.m. Predator. Here's another one, a 167-minute call. Predator," Hatalsky added. The school administrators allowed Boozer to resign instead of firing her. According to a statement, Lake Orion Schools said that they had "promptly investigated the allegation at the time it was brought to the district including cooperation with the Oakland County Sheriff's Department."
"The employee has not been with the district since 2016," the district added. Boozer and her lawyer revealed that the Oakland County Sheriff’s Office had conducted an investigation which was reviewed by the Oakland County Prosecutor’s Office and that they "declined to authorize charges". The two said, "As far as we are concerned, the case is closed."
Crue shared that he was unable to keep the secret in any longer and during his sophomore year at Michigan State University, he began to lose weight and started to cut himself. He shared that opening up about his story helped him to cope with the pain. "I feel like I have my feet back under me. But it's still a climb that is going to take years, but I'm back on the right path, and being able to speak about it and not being afraid to say 'I'm a victim of sexual abuse' is powerful," he shared.
