If you thought that Taylor Swift settled with what she had, then you were wrong. The pop singer-songwriter joined the panel of multiple speakers at NYU's 2022 commencement ceremony which took place at Yankee Stadium. The seven-times Platinum artist broke all barriers with her speech as she too accepted her honorary doctorate. However, she never attended college or university and was homeschooled, a viable option when you're becoming a superstar.

The 'Lover' artist donned a black velvet cap accompanied by the purple graduation gown which she wore for the first time. She proudly accepted her Doctor of Fine Arts, honoris causa. Needless to say, the class of 2022 went into an absolute frenzy to show her support and appreciation. One thing is firm, and i.e., the 'Blank Space' singer knows how to stay in the headlines. Be it for the controversies, her stupendous records, or pulling off something like this!

Swift did not leave any stone unturned when it came to her speech at NYU. She had one chance and nailed it, with some appropriate humor and motivation. “Hi, I’m Taylor. The last time I was in a stadium this size, I was dancing in heels and wearing a glittery leotard," said Taylor, " This outfit is much more comfortable." Needless to say, she got a standing ovation.

How did Twitter react to Taylor Swift's commencement speech?

While she hasn't released any official solo in some time, her version of 'This Love' for the upcoming TV show 'The Summer I Turned Pretty' released on May 5, 2022. The multi-platinum artist has fans all over the world. Mind you, die-hard fans. Hence, when her speech did rounds on Twitter, she instantly became trending and her fans took over. They have shown nothing but love. One user wrote, "Dr taylor swift is my therapist actually." Another Twitter user wrote, "Taylor swift said “why can we eat salad but not grass” and “we are led by our gut instincts, our desires and fears, our scars and our dreams” all in the same speech the range is simply impeccable."  A Swiftie wrote: " I love her so bad. I'm so so proud of her and everthing she's accomplished. Truly the most talented person on earth."

Swift commenced her speech by saying, "I’m 90% sure the main reason I’m here is because I have a song called ’22.And let me just say, I am elated to be here with you today as we celebrate and graduate New York University’s Class of 2022." In what was an inspiring speech, she went onto to say, " Not a single one of us here today has done it alone. We are each a patchwork quilt of those who have loved us, those who have believed in our futures, those who showed us empathy and kindness or told us the truth even when it wasn’t easy to hear. Those who told us we could do it when there was absolutely no proof of that. Someone read stories to you and taught you to dream and offered up some moral code of right and wrong for you to try and live by. Someone tried their best to explain every concept in this insanely complex world to the child that was you, as you asked a bazillion questions like, ‘how does the moon work’ and ‘why can we eat salad but not grass.’ And maybe they didn’t do it perfectly. No one ever can. Maybe they aren’t with us anymore, and in that case I hope you’ll remember them today. If they are here in this stadium, I hope you’ll find your own way to express your gratitude for all the steps and missteps that have led us to this common destination."

One of the Swifites tweeted, "Why is every Swiftie here feel like crying? Congratulations Dr. Swift Your hundreds of millions of fans around the globe are so happy for you. Doctor Taylor Swift." while another user said, "Taylor took this graduation so seriously without stepping foot in a single class meanwhile i skipped my own college graduation for a taylor swift concert <3."

Some of the fans just couldn't get enough of her speech. One Twitter user wrote, "My mistakes led to the best things in my life, and being embarrassed when you mess up is part of the human experience. – dr Taylor Alison swift speech while accepting her honorary doctorate of fine arts from nyu." Another user quipped, "I'm in a toxic relationship with Taylor swift where every time I see her I forget every criticism I ever had of her."
