Sylvester Stallone took to Instagram to slam 'Rocky' producer Irwin Winkler regarding the legendary movie franchise's ownership. The 'Rambo' star went on to reprise his role in five sequels after the '76 blockbuster and was a vital cog in the two spin-offs, 'Creed' and 'Creed II' starring Michael B Jordan and Tessa Thompson.

Stallone did more than just play the Italian Stallion in the movie, as he also penned and sat in the director's seat for some. He will be one of the notable absentees in 'Creed III' which is in the works, and fans felt Stallone's issues with the ownership rights might have been the reason. Per the New York Post, the 76-year-old didn't pull his punches as he posted an illustration of Winkler on the gram (the post appears to be deleted) and captioned it, “After IRWIN controlling ‘ROCKY’ for over 47 years, and now ‘CREED,’ I really would like [to] have at least a little [of] WHAT’s LEFT of my RIGHTS back.”

He added, “Before passing it on to ONLY YOUR CHILDREN, I believe that would be a FAIR gesture from this [93-year-old] gentleman?” This is a painful subject That eats at my soul, because I wanted to leave something of Rocky for my children, but it’s always great hearing from the loyal fans. Keep Punching." Earlier, he had even taken a shot at the producer's son David Winkler's recent memoir, 'The Arrangement: A Love Story' calling it one of the worst books he's read. The son also served as a producer for 'Creed'.

"I take it this is why he won’t be in Creed III, big shame. He should’ve won the Oscar for his performance in the first one," one of the fans speculated. Some came in rescue of the star as well. "I hope the best for Sly, I mean, at least give the guy a deal of some sort," another said. This was seconded by another fan: "The dude deserves some ownership. I mean he absolutely did everything for those films."

"Sad, stallon wrote the fist rocky and someone tried to buy it for like 200k back when he wrote it, he new they we’re trying to rip him off , glad he stuck with it," one of the tweets read. "It's no surprise. People like Winkler have been siphoning the earnings of actors for a century now. Just go back to Arthur Bernstein stealing the earnings of Jackie Coogan. If Stallone was hoping for some goodwill from Winkler, he's not as smart as I thought," another fan opined.
