Buckle up ladies and gentlemen as 'Survivor: Island of the Idols' Season 39 returned to our screens, taking us on an all-new adventure in Fiji.

Though the series failed to give fans the introduction to the castaways they wanted, 'Survivor: Island of the Idols' seems to be off to a good start. The fans weren't the only ones in for a change this season. The castaways were surprised when they entered the island with their tribes, excited for Jeff Probst's marooning, but were left disappointed when they realized he wasn't coming.

While it might have been hard to get a handle on all the castaways in just one episode, some contestants managed to stand out, making it easier for us. Like Vince who is the first-ever Hmong contestant, Elaine who is the most likable amongst the lot, Ronnie the sleaziest in the Lairo tribe, Tom the first-ever Canadian, Janet who is worried about being the oldest and an outcast in her tribe, Jason who goes off hunting for immunity idols within an hour of being on the island, marking him as the next target in the Vokai tribe.

Apart from the drama and plotting, the contestants also had their first immunity challenge, which Vokai tribe gloriously accomplished by winning the immunity for their team and flint to create fire. Elizabeth from Lairo tribe was sent to the Island of the Idols where she met the mentors in what can be considered the boot camp of survivors. Sandra Diaz-Twin and “Boston Rob” Mariano teach her how to create fire from flint.

After losing the first challenge of the season, the Lairo tribe headed on to the tribal council where one contestant got eliminated, and even though Elaine and Vince assumed that it would be either one of them, Ronnie was blindsided after the tribe spoke and eliminated him from the series.

Overall, it was a pretty interesting and good start to the season and fans are excited for what the forthcoming episode of the series holds after the surprising twists in the premiere.

Taking to Twitter, a fan said, "Great first episode, glad it was changed up a bit from the same old boat jump..." Adding to that another fan said, "Started out strong , first blindside down in the books. Glad Elaine stayed ....."

"That was one of the best first episodes in years, great idea having Rob and Sandra! Great cast! Excited for this season," said a fan. While another wrote, "Was skeptical about this season, but ep 1 was great. Looking forward to an exciting season."

"Looks like it's going to be another Great season of Survivor!" wrote another fan.
