'Supergirl' season 5: Kara's 'superbangs' and the new suit is all that fans can talk about after the premiere

The suit was introduced in the season opener 'Event Horizon' after Kara shred her cape when she and J'Onn J'Onzz fight a shape-shifter at the National City museum

It has been just over a couple of hours after 'Supergirl's new season debut, and fans cannot stop talking about Kara Danvers' (Melissa Benoist) new hairdo and the suit. The new installment saw Kara swap the skirt for pants— an upgrade that fans are happy about. "PANTS! The new suit looks great" tweeted a user. "I like the new suit," said another. The suit was introduced in the season opener 'Event Horizon' after Kara shred her cape when she and J'Onn J'Onzz fight a shape-shifter at the National City museum.

The attack turned out to be the work of a shapeshifting alien and later revealed to be Malefic, J'Onn's brother.  Brainy solves the issue by making Kara a new suit and presents it to her before her Pulitzer award ceremony begins. He gives her a microscopic device that contains the new suit and sticks it to the corner of the glasses. When she takes off the glasses in a particular way, the suit materializes and develops around her just like Tony Stark's suit in 'Avengers: Infinite War'.

Some fans thought the cape was near indestructible. "Okay sooo...Kara's cape is Krypton. It can take fires, explosions, bullets, but a dinosaur tears it? Weak..weak! Come on. Continuity!" a fan wrote.  The focus was also on Supergirl's hairdo this time.  "SO MISSED THIS SHOW. GLAD IT'S BACK. LOVE THE HAIRCUT" said a fan refrerring to Kara's new hairstyle when she suits up. Another fan labeled her hairstyle "Superbangs"

Just like the ones who were happy, certain sections of fans did not dig the suit and the hairstyle. A fan who seemed to be a fan of the old Kara hairstyle called the new do "Awful".  The suit was called"bogus" by a fan who seemed infuriated at the prospect of pants. "With any luck maybe that hideous bogus new suit will hurt ratings enough to make them go back to the normal outfit or get the show canceled if they don't," he wrote.

What are your thoughts on Kara's new hairstyle and the new suit?

'Supergirl' airs Sundays at 9 pm ET/PT on The CW.
