It's going to take a while for us to see our Girl Of Steel zoom back into action. The CW show 'Supergirl' has had to shuffle its schedules due to the ongoing coronavirus pandemic that has put the world under lockdown.

A new episode will return on May 3 and promises to be a thrilling one, as it focusses on Lex Luthor (Jon Cryer) and his rise to power after the multiversal 'Crisis On Infinite Earths'. Lex Luthor was killed by his sister Lena at the end of Season 4, but returned for the Crisis, as a Paragon no less!

And he helped save the world, which is even more mind-boggling. He managed to convince the rebirthed world that he is a hero, though Kara (Melissa Benoist) knows better. She isn't wrong, because Lex is manipulating Lena (Katie McGrath) and has been trying to bring her over to his side.

Kara has been warning everyone that Lex is diabolic and is convinced that he's up to no good. Well it's Lex Luthor, and he is a diabolic, toxic and abusive villain in the comics and the show, and he's tried to murder her cousin Clark Kent several times in both mediums.

However, did you know that though Kara positively hates Lex on the show, she did have a steamy affair with him in the comics?

Yes, you read that right. As comic book fans know, a lot of weird and twisted things happen to Supergirl in the comics, like getting kissed by her cousin Superman to make his girlfriend Lois jealous (Action Comics #260), dating a horse and dying to save the universe during The Crisis.

So after Kara Zor-El died, the DC creatives decided to bring our girl back... in a very strange way. But this is a comic book world, of course, it won't be straightforward. This new Supergirl was introduced in 1988.

She was a shape-shifting synthetic protoplasm, who been created by a Lex Luthor from an alternate universe. The long and short of it: She was Supergirl, and she was madly in love with Lex Luthor.

Lex was the example of the ultimate toxic boyfriend and their steamy relationship was fraught with tension, back massages and racial slurs. Her cousin Superman was least pleased that they were living together and she even fought with him about it.

If that wasn't twisted enough, it turns out that this new Lex Luthor was only putting up the facade of being the reformed son of the original evil Lex, and was actually the old one all along. His brain had been transplanted into this clone to escape cancer that had been killing him after exposure to a Kryptonite ring.

He was not in love with Supergirl at all. He just wanted her alien genes so that he could create a clone army himself. He had made his own army of Supergirls.  Broken and furious, Supergirl throws him out of the window and destroys his lab. That's how you deal with toxic men.

Fans would probably riot if any of this happened on The CW show. 'Supergirl' airs on Sundays at 9 pm.
