‘Stumptown’ Episode 13: Dex poses as a buyer to help Miles and Grey while Ansel struggles with his new role

As Dex Parios's (Cobie Smulders) alley cat morality has taken a backseat, ABC’s ‘Stumptown’ has brought to us another interesting triangle, as the PI is prepped to join hands with Grey McConnell (Jake Johnson) and Miles Hoffman (Michael Ealy) for their new investigation. 

In Episode 12 ‘Dirty Dexy Money’, Grey and Miles approach Dex in the pretext of their new case, involving the carjacking ring. The upcoming episode of ‘Stumptown’ titled ‘The Dex Factor’ sees the PI pose as a buyer for the tons of drugs Max and gang are trying to push, for which she needs to work closely with two of her former lovers. 

The official synopsis for Episode 13 of ‘Stumptown’ reads, “Dex goes undercover as a potential buyer to help Hoffman and Grey with the next phase of their drug case. Meanwhile, Dex unexpectedly becomes close to a fellow veteran support group member and soon discovers they have more in common than they thought. After being left in charge of the Bad Alibi, Ansel struggles to maintain order and enlists Tookie’s help.”

The official trailer for ‘The Dex Factor’ also gives us a glimpse of Dex’s goofy side and she has awkwardness written all over her face as she chooses to associate herself with Grey and Miles professionally. 

Apart from the misadventures of the infamous trio, we might also get to witness a development in Ansel’s story arc, who is juggling between being Dex’s “buddy” and a “man” that appeal to the ladies. 

However, going by what we saw in the previous episode and the promo of the next, the series may present us with a wholesome brother and sister moment between Ansel Parios (Cole Sibus) and Dex, as the latter is coming face-to-face with the harsh realities of independent life. 

The preview of ‘The Dex Factor’ also states that “Dex unexpectedly becomes close to a fellow veteran support group member”. It remains to be seen if the known stranger has a role to play in helping the PI cope with her PSTD as “they have more in common than they thought" or, would the new association trigger her memories of a devastating past, drawing her closer to the sinkhole of sorrow. 

Episode 13 of ‘Stumptown’ airs on Wednesdays at 10 pm on ABC.
