'Stranger Things' Season 4 Volume 1 ended on an ominous note setting up the tone for a more gripping second volume. Seven episodes spanning well over 60 minutes were just a mere start to what would be one of the darkest installments of the Netflix blockbuster. The series ends by promising key character deaths, more twists, new characters, and a scarier new season.

The new season started off with the Byers in California, but for Eleven, life was tough without her powers, and most importantly without her support system in Mike. Things go haywire when she stirs up trouble at school, while Joyce (Winona Ryder) and Murray (Brett Gelman) get a letter that puts them on a rescue mission to Russia to save Jim Hopper whose being held captive in a Russian prison. With the next installment looming, here's everything we know so far.

When does 'Stranger Things' Season 4 Volume 2 release?

'Stranger Things' Season 4 Volume 2 is set to release on July 1, 2022, on Netflix.

Who stars in 'Stranger Things' Season 4 Volume 2?

All the major characters will reprise their roles in Volume 2. Millie Bobby Brown returns as Eleven, while Winona Ryder will be back as Joyce Byers. David Harbour (Jim Hopper), Finn Wolfhard (Mike Wheeler), Gaten Matarazzo (Dustin Henderson), Caleb McLaughlin (Lucas Sinclair), Noah Schnapp (Will Byers), Natalia Dyer (Nancy Wheeler), and Charlie Heaton (Jonathan Byers) also reprise their respective roles.

The new season also saw fresh faces in 'The Mortal Instruments' star Jamie Campbell Bower who will play Peter Ballard, an orderly at a psychiatric hospital, while Eduardo Franco ('Queenpins') will play Jonathan's (Heaton) friend Argyle.

Also playing a key role is Joseph Quinn's Eddie Munson. Fans will remember him as the Koner from HBO's 'Game of Thrones' and the British actor's character runs The Hellfire Club, Hawkins High School’s official Dungeons and Dragons club. Tom Wlaschiha finds himself a role in the new season as Dmitri, a Russian prison guard who becomes quite close to Hopper. Brett Gelman returns with Murray Bauman as well.

What will Volume 2 be all about?

The official synopsis reads, "It’s been six months since the Battle of Starcourt, which brought terror and destruction to Hawkins. Struggling with the aftermath, our group of friends is separated for the first time – and navigating the complexities of high school hasn't made things any easier. In this most vulnerable time, a new and horrifying supernatural threat surfaces, presenting a gruesome mystery that, if solved, might finally put an end to the horrors of the Upside Down."

Volume 1 ended with Vecna's past being revealed. Eleven gained her powers, Nancy and Steve rekindled their lost spark of sorts, while Hopper was rescued by Joyce and Murray. That said, the season is far from over as the new baddie on the block is just getting started and claims three victims already before snaring Nancy. While she is revealed to be alive, her traumatic past with the events in Hawkins might just make her the next victim.

Showrunners

The show has been created by Matt and Ross Duffer, better known as the Duffer Brothers. Shawn Levy, Dan Cohen, Cindy Holland, Brian Wright, Matt Thunell, Karl Gajdusek, and Iain Paterson serve as executive producers.
