'Stranger' 2 will see prosecutor Hwang Shi-mok (Cho Seung-won) and detective Han Yeo-jin (Bae Doo-na) come together again and this time, what crime they will be working on has not been revealed. The one thing we are certain of from all the TV spots that have been released on Instagram is that a bunch of secrets is going to be outed by the duo. However, they might not start off as a collaborative team, not at the beginning as the tension between the prosecutors and police departments rises. This season, we will see how this tension gives rise to a new conflict.

Turns out, the prosecution wants to wrestle for more power and retain the control that it has over the investigation of cases. However, the police department headed by Choi Bit is wrestling for freedom. They do not want the prosecution to have a say in how they investigate a case and this will be the main plotline of the show. After the previous season saw the Chief Prosecutor and Chief of Police work together in their corruptive practices, this season would be different for sure.

This will also influence the way that Shi-mok and Yeo-jin will work. While the previous season was about bringing down both the department's chief for their corrupt ways, this time, it is not corruption that they are fighting and so this could lead to conflict between them as well. However, they have to work together despite this and what we are really excited about is to see the case that will bring these two together again.

The two of them had started to work together in the previous season coincidentally after Yeo-jin found out trace evidence left behind by the killer in a serial murder case. As Shi-mok works on the case, he realizes that he was led to falling into a trap that was laid for him. He is accused of not investigating a case properly and even being the reason behind the death of a falsely accused victim.

However, despite all of this, Shi-mok continues to investigate the case with one aim and that is to find the real killer. He does so with Yeo-jin's help because, despite all the rumors about him being a psycho as a teenager who physically assaulted his classmates, Yeo-jin worked with him, without any prejudice and even helped him move in the right direction when necessary.

While there was no hint of romantic interest in either of them, their chemistry as partners was brilliant and it is this chemistry that we are looking forward to in the next season as well.

'Stranger 2' is set to premiere on August 15 and originally airs on tvN on Saturdays and Sundays at 9 pm KST in South Korea and can be streamed on Netflix.
