Will Andy Herrera (Jaina Lee Ortiz) and Robert Sullivan's (Boris Kodjoe) marriage last? When ‘Station 19’ Season 4 comes back with its first episode, it might have to take a deep dive into their relationship and look at whether the problems surfacing at the shore are solvable or will it soon lead to a crack? Last season, Sullivan was dealing with drug overdose and landed up at Grey Sloan for surgery.

In the finale, he did get the surgery to reduce his pain and that could probably help him beat his addiction with opioids in the long run. While he was in the hospital, Andy told him that she'd be by his side but she left him alone to deal with her family issues. Now, when the show comes back amid the challenges of a global pandemic, will their marriage be doomed?

Talking about their relationship, Boris Kodjoe told ET Online, "I think it starts out with his drug abuse. That's a challenge in itself, and then her trauma and sadness and rage about her father leaving her, and then her finding out her mother is still alive, that alone is a lifetime worth of drama." He adds, "So we'll see how they handle it. I think we all know that they love each other very much and they want to be together. I think it's interesting when you explore relationships from the perspective of not giving up rather than letting obstacles break you apart. It's more fun and interesting to see what couples do when they decide not to give up on each other."

"Right, because if Andy and Sullivan had the perfect relationship, if it was all rainbows and butterflies and cotton candy, it would be boring. It wouldn't be interesting and the fact that we're faced with traumatic challenges, it makes you appreciate how they come together and how they work through those hard times because what doesn't kill you makes you stronger," Jaina Lee Ortiz added. Kodjoe was quick to chime in, "But I still want some rainbows and butterflies too!" Ortiz assured, "You get a combination platter of both," adding, "It would suck if it was nothing but problem after problem. but yeah, it's a roller coaster of a relationship that makes it much more appealing."

Titled ‘Nothing Seems the Same’, the summary reads: "When the COVID-19 pandemic hits Seattle, the Station 19 crew leans on each other for support. Andy tries to make sense of her mother's return, while Sullivan settles into a new routine. And it's all-hands-on-deck when a group of teenagers unintentionally starts a wildfire." Directed by Paris Barclay and written by Kiley Donovan, the episode may bring Andy and Sullivan closer when the latter finds out his mom is alive. But over the next season, the two might have to work around their issues and find their secret to a happy marriage.

Catch the crossover episode of ‘Station 19’ Season 4 x ‘Grey's Anatomy’ Season 17 on Thursday, November 12, that airs at 8 pm ET on ABC.
