That was one intense episode of 'Stargirl'. There was a lot of emotional family drama packed with intense action sequences. Barbara Whitmore (Amy Smart) stumbles upon the Cosmic Staff and has finally learned the truth that her daughter is a student by day and a superhero by night. She kicks Pat Dugan (Luke Wilson) out of the house and promptly decides to leave Blue Valley.

However, she decides to do some investigating on her own and pays heed to Pat's words of caution about Jordan Mahkent aka Icicle (Neil Jackson). Meanwhile, Courtney (Brec Bassinger) is not too worried about the family drama as she has problems of her own to deal with. The ISA caught hold of the Cosmic Staff and the only sensible plan Courtney has in mind is to go down to the Dragon King's lair to get her hands on it. Her friends Yolanda aka Wildcat (Yvette Monreal), Rick Tyler aka Hourman (Cameron Gellman), Beth Chapel aka Dr Midnite (Anjelika Washington) and Henry King Jr aka Brainwave Jr, who Courtney discovers is her cousin, head to the Dragon King's Lair to get the staff back.

Secrets are revealed throughout the episode, including the revelation that Jordan did not kill Brainwave's wife Mary, who was Starman's sister. Brainwave did so because she had found out about his identity. Henry King Jr had hoped that Brainwave (Christopher James Baker) would be a better person after his coma, and for a while there seemed to be much hope. The two shared an emotional reunion as Brainwave shed many tears about his wife, Mary. However, at the end of the episode, it is revealed that he had killed Mary. Henry King Jr is devastated to know this and this leads to a showdown between father and son in the lair. Brainwave says, "Don't make me choose again", as Henry King Jr refuses to fight by his side. With his telepathic waves, he drops rocks on Henry King Jr and the JSA stares in shock. Before he supposedly dies, Henry apologizes to a teary-eyed Yolanda.

Of course, there's no proof that he's dead yet. This is a superhero show and he could just easily make a comeback later, somehow or the other. Brainwave Jr had a major role in the comics, so it's not likely the show would kill him off, just yet. Nevertheless, this is the millionth time that Courtney's heedlessness has lead to another tragic casualty. Can someone please restrain that child and train her properly before she drags her friends into terrifying escapades? No, really.

'Stargirl' airs on The CW on Tuesdays at 8 pm.
