What happened in Season 1?
In the first season, young New Republic pilot Kazuda Xiono (Christopher Sean) was recruited into the Resistance and sent to the ocean planet Castilon, where he is tasked with infiltrating an aircraft refueling station called the Colossus under the guise of being a mechanic. He investigates the First Order's plans for the station and the first season built up to the moment when the villainous organization finally took control of the station.
The first season covered events leading up to 'Star Wars: The Force Awakens' and synced with the movie in the final episodes, with Kaz losing his family on Hosnian Prime when the planet is destroyed by the superweapon Starkiller Base (as seen in the movie). The season ended on a bit of a cliffhanger with Kaz's friend and fellow mechanic Tamara Ryvora joining the First Order and the rest of the show's protagonists being launched into hyperspace with no idea where they might end up.
The second season picks up immediately after the first and will cover the events of 'The Last Jedi' and lead up to the events of the upcoming film, 'The Rise of Skywalker'. Kaz and the team will be continuing their fight against the threat of the First Order.
Here's the official synopsis for season 2: "The story picks up after a harrowing escape from the First Order, as the Colossus and all its residents find themselves lost in space, pursued by Agent Tierny and Commander Pyre. Kaz and team also face a myriad of new dangers along the way including bounty hunters, a suspicious Hutt, General Hux and Supreme Leader Kylo Ren. Meanwhile, Tam grapples with her future and where her true allegiance lies, with her friends or the First Order. The thrilling final season will showcase how the unlikeliest of heroes can help spark hope across the galaxy."
The 'Days of Our Lives' actor stars in the series as Kazuda 'Kaz' Xiono. Sean is also well known for his performance as Bing Lee in the critically acclaimed web series 'The Lizzie Bennet Diaries' and his recurring role of Gabriel Waincroft on CBS's 'Hawaii Five-0'.
Sean's fellow cast members include Suzie McGrath ('East Enders') as Tam Ryvora, Scott Lawrence ('Legion') as Jarek Yeager, Myrna Velasco ('Elena of Avalor') as Torra Doza, Josh Brener ('Silicon Valley') as Neeku Vozo, Donald Faison ('Scrubs') as Hype Fazon, Jim Rash ('Community') as Flix, Bobby Moynihan ('DuckTales') as Orka, Oscar Isaac ('Star Wars: The Last Jedi') as Poe Dameron and Gwendoline Christie ('Game of Thrones') as Captain Phasma.
Filoni is an acclaimed writer, director, and voice actor who is best known for his contributions to 'Avatar: The Last Airbender' and the 'Star Wars: The Clone Wars' theatrical film and television series. 'Star Wars Resistance' was created by Filoni, who was also the creator of 'Star Wars Rebels' and is part of the directorial team for the upcoming live-action Disney+ series 'The Mandalorian'.
A trailer for the second and final season was unveiled August 14, which revealed the dangers in store for the team in the times to come. With resources running low aboard the Colossus and the First Order gaining power across the galaxy, Kaz and crew will have to find strange new allies to aid them in the battles to come. Plus, the trailer ends with the reveal that Supreme Leader Kylo Ren (Adam Driver) will be coming to the series in this its final season.
