Diego Luna's 'Andor' is one of the latest spin-offs from the 'Star Wars franchise that's quietly gearing up for a release on Disney+ and has reportedly been renewed for a new season even before its release. Set around five years before the Rebel spies figured out the plans for the Death Star, the series focuses on Luna's Cassian Andor, a secret service operative working for the Rebellion against the Empire.

Created by Tony Gilroy, best-known for writing the wrote the screenplays for the first four films of the Bourne series, the series also sees him serve as the Executive Producers alongside Luna and Kathleen Kennedy. Per Techradar, the synopsis reads, "Andor is a prequel to the events of Rogue One: A Star Wars Story, a spy story focusing on the exploits of intelligence operative Cassian Andor." Previously, it was revealed that the series will be set five years before the events of 'Rogue One', essentially it's set prior to the destructive battle that shatters the Death Star in 'Star Wars: Episode IV – A New Hope.'

What is 'Andor' about?

The latest 'Star Wars' show focuses on the darker side of the Rebellion. It serves as an origin story for Andor and the Rebellion. Those who watched 'Rogue One' will remember seeing Cassian Andor ready to kill a spy to stop him from passing on ket information to the Rebellion. Safe to say, it just might be one of the darker shows from the franchise. It is also set in the post-Order 66 era where a few Imperial facilities are shown and also encompasses all elements that make for a perfect spy thriller. The thriller shows no lightsabers or force at this stage, but we can expect a Jedi or two to pop up.
