'Southern Charm' began filming in early 2020 when the pandemic was being dealt with in parts of the world. When Covid-19 arrived in the USA, it picked out the big cities first and slowly, the smaller cities and towns. The Bravo-backed show is filmed in Charleston and no one seemed to have realized the seriousness of it until the South Carolina government issued an order that a lockdown will be imposed, following which public places, service industries, schools will remain closed until further notice. Of course, the health services were functioning at full strength to tend to emergencies.

However, it was only Shep Rose who took Covid-19 and its implications seriously, he even said "this is just the beginning." Craig Conovar remained in denial while Kathryn Dennis found it tough to believe that they were shutting down schools. Leva Bonaparte was another cast member who embraced the pandemic that way it should have been - maintaing proper hygiene and safety protocols. When she invited her restaurant employees over, she made sure they left their shoes at the doors before sitting down in the living room to have a chat with her about how they can best run the business given the situation.

Meanwhile, fans were surprised that some of the cast members were not taking the pandemic seriously. Also, they felt the episode was too heavy because it functioned as a reminder of the tough times everyone in the world faced when the world went into its first lockdown.

"No part of me enjoys living through the beginning of covid again with these idiots #SouthernCharm," a user pointed out, while another tweeted: "The anxiety I’m getting watching this COVID stuff #SouthernCharm." "Really weird watching how quickly COVID took over in 1 week on #southerncharm .... and we all lived and continue living through it. @ShepRose nailed prediction on where this was going. And, @C_Conover 5G???? Lol," a user pointed out. "Kathryn being completely clueless about the seriousness of COVID is so very on brand. #SouthernCharm," another shared.
