ADELAIDE, AUSTRALIA: A man from South Australia was put behind bars in November 2020 after he committed a sexual act on a friend’s dog in 2019. The man identified as Dennis Stokes had earlier pleaded guilty to one count of committing bestiality. However, in the latest, he was spared further prison time after receiving a suspended sentence for committing the crime.
According to The Advertiser, the Adelaide District Court on Thursday, August 25 was told that Stokes was using methamphetamines when he filmed himself performing sex acts with and on the dog. The offense, according to the court, happened between January and September 2019. It involved a dog belonging to a woman Stokes met in 2018. The 51-year-old was at the woman’s place as he helped her move houses in 2019.

According to The Daily Mail, the woman discovered an SD card in her new home and stumbled upon the horrific footage of Stokes engaging in a sexual act with her dog. The court heard the video showing Stokes touching the dog's genitalia and encouraging the dog to lick his own. The woman who was “distressed and sickened” alerted the cops and Strokes got arrested in November 2020.
Judge Heffernan during the hearing said, “It has been apparent to me since your first appearance in this court that you are profoundly ashamed and embarrassed by your conduct”, as per The Advertiser. “This offense occurred on an occasion when you were significantly under the influence on methylamphetamines. You did something that you would not, without the drugs, ever have contemplated doing”, said the Judge adding, “That you were under the influence of methylamphetamine does not excuse your conduct, it does not make it any less serious a breach of the law than it is, but it does perhaps explain what would otherwise be unfathomable behaviour on your part.”
Stokes had applied for an early plea that helped him avoid any further jail time. “There is no evidence that the animal was in any distress or pain because of your actions”, said the Judge further sharing, “I am satisfied that you were not motivated in committing the offence by any genuine sexual attraction to the dog but rather by the impact of your methylamphetamine's intoxication.”
Judge Heffernan added, “The only appropriate sentence is to impose a term of imprisonment, and I sentence you to three months imprisonment.” However, due to the early plea deal that Stokes applied for, his sentence was reduced to two months, and 17 days and that sentence was suspended subject to a good behavior bond.
