'Songland' ended its first season on Tuesday night, and to close it with a bang, the series featured One Republic as the guest artistes.  Over the course of season 1, the series aired with 11 episodes, each episode featuring a new guest artiste looking for their next big hit. Helping the guest artiste pick a winner were judges/mentors Ryan Tedder, Ester Dean, and Shane McAnally.

This week, Ryan jumped over to the guest artiste's seat as his band One Republic were looking for their next hit. Taking his place as the judge/mentor was songwriter and producer Jason Evigan. Ryan also brought along his bandmate Zach Filkins.

Among the four contestants JT Roach performed his original song titled 'Somebody To Love', Madi sang her original song, 'Darkest Days', Tyler James Bellinger performed, 'Giving You Up', and Brigette sang her original song, 'Be Somebody'.

After listening to all four songwriters perform their songs, it was time to eliminate one contestant. Tyler was eliminated while Brigetta, Madi and JT Roach moved on to the final round.  When it came to mentoring, Jason mentored Brigetta, Shane mentored JT and Ester mentored Madi. Jason helped Brigetta make her song darker and moodier. Shane helped JT refurbish his lyrics to how Ryan and the rest of the band members would like it. He also helped JT make his lyrics clearer. Ester helped Madi lower the pitch of her song and make it sound more like a OneRepublic track.

After the mentors helped the songwriters to finetune their song to OneRepublic's preference, the final three contestants, performed their songs for one last time. Post listening to the new version of each song, Ryan chose the song that knocked him off his feet.

He chose JT Roach's 'Somebody to love' as OneRepublic's next hit. After the episode aired, fans took to Twitter to reveal that Ryan picked the right song, and that they were all in favor of 'Somebody to love'.  "THIS SONG IS INCREDIBLE!! Great choice best of the season. Im gonna have this on repeat for a week," wrote a fan on Twitter. Adding to that another fan said, "I'm so glad that you chose to do this song, it's absolutely beautiful."

"Congrats JT...This was a tough battle, but you won with HIGH respect. The tweaking does wonders. #Songland. If it gives you #Goosebumps...? It's all that matters," said another fan.

To all you Songland fans out there, if you're disappointed with season 1 coming to an end, worry not, as the series has been renewed for season 2. This news doesn't come as a surprise, as the series did have good ratings. We can't wait to see the songs season 2 spins out.
