'Songbird', produced by Michael Bay, is a very fitting story for our current situation, focusing on a pandemic in the near future and the life of an essential worker caught up in the subsequent madness. Release Date

An official release date for 'Songbird' is yet to be announced but since it has wrapped production already, we should be getting an update soon. The film is currently expected to arrive in 2021. Stay tuned for more.

Plot

Extremely current considering the global pandemic situation, 'Songbird' is set two years in the future when an even more deadly version of the coronavirus has begun spreading, causing widespread chaos around the world. The movie focuses on a number of people affected by the new pandemic, mainly a delivery man played by 'Riverdale' star KJ Apa who has a unique immunity that makes him a very valuable essential worker.

Here's the official synopsis courtesy of IMDb: "In 2022, a pandemic ravages the world and its cities. Centering on a handful of people as they navigate the obstacles currently hindering society: disease, martial law, quarantine, and vigilantes."

Apa is best known for playing the lead role of Archie Andrews on The CW's 'Archie'-inspired show 'Riverdale'. He is an actor, singer and musician from New Zealand who will be playing the lead role in 'Songbird'.

Other reported cast members include Demi Moore, Sofia Carson, Paul Walter Hauser, Peter Stormare, Bradley Whitford, Jenna Ortega, and Craig Robinson.

Adam Mason

Adam Mason is a graduate of the London Film School and has produced and directed a number of music videos and award-winning short films. His previous directorial work includes 'Broken', 'The Devil's Chair', and 'Hangman', among others. Mason has directed 'Songbird' and written it alongside Simon Boyes. The movie has been produced by Michael Bay, Marcei A. Brown, Jason Clark, Adam Goodman, Michael Kase, Jessica Malanaphy, Rick Osako, Andrew Sugerman, and Jeanette Volturno.
