LANCASHIRE, ENGLAND: A 31-year-old man who attempted to kill his father, who had been convicted of abusing children, was arrested and imprisoned for nine years on Wednesday, August 21.

The man, identified as Daniel Green,  smashed a porcelain figurine over David Green's head after he failed to strangle him because his hands were too small, according to reports.

Daniel attacked his 77-year-old father on March 29 at a care home where he was being looked after because he has dementia.

Preston Crown Court was told on Wednesday that Daniel had years of built-up resentment because of his father's history of pedophilia.

Reports state that the 31-year-old was heard by officers as saying: "I can't even kill someone right."

Prosecutor Jeremy Grout-Smith, while addressing the court, said that Daniel arrived at Ravenswing Manor care home in Blackburn at 3:30 pm on March 29 and sat with his father as they watched TV together.

He reportedly attacked his father at around 8 pm, and was discovered by care assistant Katie Heslop when he saw a blood-stained blanket on Daniel's arms, Metro UK reported.

He reportedly told Heslop's colleague "I tried to strangle my dad. Obviously, it didn't work."

She then rushed to David's room and saw blood everywhere from a head injury with the porcelain figure which was on the floor in pieces.

Shortly after authorities were called to the scene, Daniel told officers: "I tried to kill him. I tried to strangle him but I only have small hands. He sexually abused children when I was a child. I have not been able to vent my anger with him until now."

The 31-year-old, however, told officials that he had not been abused by his father.

Defense attorney Rachel Woods told the court that Daniel had not intended to kill his father when he arrived at the care home. He was homeless at the time and wanted a hot meal, a hot drink and a roof over his head.

The Preston Crown Court was told the elderly man was in jail for his crimes in 2001.

"Disappointed, disappointing effort, but won't have to think about him anymore, will I," Green was quoted as saying by the Mirror when he heard his father would recover from his injuries

Judge Brown after the hearing said: "You have harbored over many years a resentment to your father for sexually abusing two children. Your father received a custodial sentence for those offenses when you were 13. These offenses destroyed the adulation you had for him and you harbored resentment for a long time. The anger increased and manifested itself in the attack on him. It does seem this was an isolated incident."
