A Democratic candidate running for Congress in Texas wished a deadly cancer upon former President Barack Obama while slamming his healthcare program on Twitter, Sunday. Justin Lecea also claimed that Obama's presidency was a "waste" and the Democrat leader "gives zero f***s about y'all."

Lecea launched his attack against the former president after Obama posted a tweet urging people to sign up for the health coverage deadline by Sunday. "You can get the zen garden next week, but tomorrow is the last day to sign up for health coverage at HealthCare.gov. Get covered today!" Obama tweeted on Saturday.

Shortly after Obama's reminder, Lecea took to the micro-blogging site to lash out at the former White House resident. "I just want you to think about all the people who have and will die because Obamacare is pointless and your entire presidency was a waste," the Congressional candidate said. "If god was just you would get the most malignant cancer imaginable," he wrote in a now-deleted tweet.

Lecea deleted the tweet shortly after he wrote it following heavy backlash. "People are criticizing me for wishing cancer on Obama," the Democrat socialist wrote, and added a personal story of losing his parent to cancer.

"I say that having lost a parent to brain cancer after 12 years of fighting, and getting to see just how terrible our Healthcare system is, and I still think he deserves it or worse," he wrote. "Y'all are defending a war criminal who was in authority during the deportation of over 3 million immigrants, continued the war in Iraq and Afghanistan, allowed the continued poisoning of citizens in places like Flint."

"[A]nd also recently bought an 11 million dollar home in Martha's Vinyard, and demonstrated privilege so great that he gives zero f***s about y'all," Lecea said. "Obama is part of the club that is going to let y'all burn in climate change. So @ me all you want I said nothing directly threatening."

The progressive candidate is attempting to beat incumbent Democratic Rep. Joaquin Castro in the blue district just northwest of San Antonio, Texas. He is running against two other Democratic candidates running for the 2020 seat.
