Melania Trump recently announced that she is planning a solo trip to Africa this year. “This will be my first time traveling to Africa and I am excited to educate myself on the issues facing children throughout the continent, while also learning about its rich culture and history,” she said, as reported by Washington Post. "We are a global society and I believe it is through open dialogue and the exchanging of ideas that we have a real opportunity to learn from one another. I look forward to highlighting the successful humanitarian work and development programs being done in many of the countries." The first lady is set to visit multiple countries but has not specified her itinerary.

The announcement comes as a surprise as in the month of January, Donald Trump described Haiti and African nations as “s**thole” countries and decided against restoring protections for immigrants from those regions. “Why are we having all these people from s***hole countries come here?” he reportedly said at that time. Twitter users were quick to point out the irony in this, as reported by the Huffington Post.  Surprised she'd go to what her stupid husband calls s***hole countries," wrote one user.

Another added, "It’s like @POTUS and @FLOTUS are not even part of the same administration." There were some who were happy to note that Melania had decided to visit the country which Donald Trump once referred to as "sh**hole".  "Encouraged that @FLOTUS will be visiting Africa this fall, rather than just writing off the continent as a bunch of "s***hole countries," read another comment.

Some were even thinking about what Melania would choose to wear for her first solo trip as another comment read, "SO! She's VACATIONING in Africa . . . is she going to wear her green safari jacket that says "I don't care . . ." Another chimed in stating the chances of Melania copying Michelle Obama's itinerary. "Just googled Michelle Obama’s first official solo overseas trip to see if Melania was copying her again. Can’t imagine why she’s not: Michelle’s 2nd solo overseas trip was Africa; her first official trip was Mexico City, but her first unofficial trip was post-earthquake Haiti," read another comment.

This comes after former White House aide Omarosa Manigault Newman alleged that Melania's fashion statements were actually “style rebellions” intended to “punish her husband," as reported by People. In her latest book, 'Unhinged', Omarosa wrote that Melania wore  “I REALLY DON’T CARE, DO U?” jacket in order to make Trump “look foolish”. “It’s my opinion that Melania was forced to go to the border that day in June, essentially, to mop up her husband’s mess,” she wrote in the book.

“She wore that jacket to hurt Trump, setting off a controversy that he would have to fix, prolonging the conversation about the administration’s insensitivity, ruining the trip itself, and trying to make sure that no one asked her to do something like that again," she further added. “Not that Melania doesn’t have compassion for immigrant children; I’m sure she does. But she gladly, spitefully, wrecked her husband’s directives to make him look foolish.”
