After the pandemic-induced hiatus of almost two years, the Primetime Emmy award-winning dance reality show, ‘So You Think You Can Dance’ is finally back for its 17th season on Fox with an all-new judges panel.

The judging panel comprises big names like Stephen Twitch Boss, Matthew Morrison, Jojo Siwa and host Cat Deeley as she steps back into her shoes of being presenter for this season. The show will be featuring highly competent and skilled performers and dancers between 18 to 30 years who would be showing their dancing talent to the judges and battle it out with each other for getting a chance to make their mark on the show. Those who will get selected into the SYTYCD studio will get a chance to work with world-renowned dance choreographers and compete every week in a variety of styles like contemporary, tap, hip hop, ballroom, breakdance and many more.

As Season 17 begins let's take a look at a pair of interesting contestants on the show and how they fared.

‘So You Think You Can Dance’ Dakota and Misha

A Latin dancer by profession and the US Cabaret dancer champion of 2021, Dakota specializes in dance forms like Rumba, Salsa, Cha Cha and lots more. Dakota is also going to be seen as one of the strong contestants in this season of ‘So You Think You Can Dance’ who can spice up the show and raise the bar of performances to another level altogether.

Dakota performed a ballroom dance with her partner and husband Misha for the audition. Audiences and fans finally got the first ballroom dance audition of this season but judges had mixed reactions to their performance and so they split the couple. It means that while Dakota has been selected for the choreography round in the show, her partner Misha could not make it.

Fans on Twitter have been pouring love for the couple and many of them have come out in support of this real-life dance couple and targeted judges for splitting them both in the show. A fan wrote, "Excited to see Dakota grow but I’m sad that Misha isn’t going through too. #SYTYCD". Another fan wrote, "Damnnn @itsjojosiwa going hard on the ballroom couple! I don’t hate that tho! I think she was right. I am glad Dakota went thru to the next round tho bc she seemed like the stronger of the 2 #SYTYCD’. Another fan expressing his thoughts wrote, ‘Come on judges. They should've put Misha through along with Dakota... #SYTYCD". Another fan adds, "Misha was better than Dakota. Twitch was right, they should have both gone thru! #SYTYCD." Another user wrote, "Only Dakota moves on. #SoYouThinkYouCanDance #SYTYCD’. A fan also wrote, ‘Finally, we got our 1st ballroom dance audition of the season with Dakota & Misha! #SYTYCD."
