‘Saturday Night Live’ is back with another exciting episode with Kristen Wiig as host and Dua Lipa as the musical guest. Just before the premiere of the show, Jim Carrey announced on Twitter that he will be stepping down from the role of Joe Biden because “my term was only meant to be 6 weeks.” So, fans were speculating who might be Biden in the new episode. And that question was answered in the cold open itself.

Cast member Alex Moffat stepped in to play Biden, at least for this episode. On the ‘Weekend Update’ section, host Colin Jost made things even interesting when he announced a tribute to President Donald Trump. In a musical montage, they listed out the current president’s “greatest moments in office.” The segment featured Trump’s moments in the White House with a dramatic slideshow set to Seismonic’s song ‘Closing Time’. Jost said, “Well, barring a reverse Christmas miracle this is the last Weekend Update with Donald Trump still in office. Now, as a president, he was mostly bad, but there were a few bright spots.” He also said at the end, “America, don’t cry because it’s over. Smile because it happened — and then probably cry a little bit. I don’t know. I’m still working it out with my therapist.” The video compilation featured footage from a rally of him giving paper towels to victims of hurricane victims in Puerto Rico, among others.

Fans were amused by the tribute. A user tweeted, “Trump must watched @nbcsnl? They gave a BYE DON tribute to his stupid moves on Weekend Update..” Another said, “I am in tears laughing at the @SNL weekend update. This was their LAST  mention of trump as president with a montage of the good times with background music of closing time!” One said, “Didn't realize until they called it out on Weekend Update: This is the last episode of SNL while Trump is president.” Another stated, “Weekend update completely roasting trump has been the highlight of my night.” One commented, “It was so PERFECT. What a solid way to end the last weekend update with Trump in office.”
