Teen’s chilling tweets come to light after she and friend stabbed their ‘best friend’ 50 times on count of 3
MACDALE, WEST VIRGINIA: New documents revealed chilling tweets of the two women who brutally stabbed their 16-year-old best friend to death in Macdale, West Virginia, because they "did not like her." The killers, at the time 16, sent chilling tweets to each other days after committing the murder as authorities were still searching for missing Skyler Neese.
Rachel Shoaf and Sheila Eddy, both now 23, who were seen smiling in their recent mugshots, pleaded guilty in 2013 to murdering Neese in July 2012. Shoaf and Eddy reportedly plotted to kill Nesse, with whom they did not want to be friends with anymore.
They asked Neese to join them on the night of July 6 to smoke marijuana at a desolate spot and as they got down of the car, the duo counted to three and stabbed Neese multiple times until she became listless. They hid her body with branches and stones.
Reports stated the 16-year-old had a total of 50 stab wounds. After months of searching, Shoaf confessed to the authorities of the killing in January 2013 and directed them to where her body was. Shoaf eventually was sentenced to 30 years in prison, while Eddy, who initially pleaded not guilty to the crime, got a life sentence.
It has now been revealed that one of the teens posted cold tweets during the 10 months between the stabbing and their eventual arrest. In one of the tweets, they referenced to counting to three before murdering Neese.
Neese's parents, Dave and Mary Neese, while speaking to 20/20 said the three girls used to be best friends, they used to do everything together. However, in the days before Neese was murdered, something had changed.
Two days before Neese disappeared, she, on July 4, had tweeted: "It really doesn't take much to p***s me off" and "Sick of being at f*****g home. Thanks 'friends,' love hanging out with you all too," the Daily Mail reported.
She wrote another tweet a day before her murder, writing: "You doing s*** like that is why I can NEVER completely trust you." Her final tweet was sent hours before she sneaked out of her house to meet her friends as she retweeted: "All I do is hope."
Eddy, after murdering Neese, continued a steady stream of tweets, with her first tweet coming a day after the killing, on July 7. She posted a birthday message to a friend and later continued tweeting about watching her favorite TV shows, such as 'Law and Order SVU.' Eddy, in a chilling tweet, called Neese her "bestfriend": "Rest easy Skylar, you'll ALWAYS be my bestfriend. I miss you more than you could ever know. "
She also tweeted about her friendship with Shoaf, writing: "No one on this earth can handle me and Rachel if you think you can you're wrong." Eddy, months after Shoaf's confession in January 2013, tweeted on March 30, 2013: "We really did go on three." The tweet was in reference to the pair attacking Neese on the count of three.
Ever since their daughter's murder, Neese's parents have spearheaded Skylar's Law, which requires Amber Alerts to be issued in West Virginia for all missing children. At the time of Neese's disappearance, the rules of Amber Alert did not fit her circumstances and she was declared a "missing" person after 48 hours of her disappearance. Both Eddy and Shoaf are currently at the Lakin Correctional Center in West Virginia.
