‘Sisyphus: The Myth’: Release date, plot, cast, trailer and all you need to know about JTBC K-drama featuring BTS’ song ‘Spring Day’

‘Sisyphus: The Myth’, the new JTBC K-drama that will be replacing the super popular show ‘Run On’ has intrigued viewers with a unique storyline featuring a number of sci-fi elements supported by an award-winning cast featuring Cho Seung-woo, Academy Award-winning film ‘Parasite’ famed child actor Jung Hyeon-jun, Park Shin-hye and more.

The new JTBC K-drama ‘Sisyphus: The Myth’ will offer complex relationship dynamics and a unique story of friendship and more along with the dystopian, futuristic theme of the K-drama. According to the production team of the show, “One of the key points will be to watch out for how their (the protagonists played by Cho Seung-woo and Park Shin-hye) relationship transforms.”

Another exciting fact about the show is that it also features BTS’ 2016 song ‘Spring Day’ which is deemed as one of the best K-pop songs of the decade by Rolling Stone. In the drama, the time-traveler Kang Seo-hae is very close to the BTS song as she has also discovered the K-pop septet’s ‘Bring The Soul’ movie poster while strolling around the ruined city, Myeongdong, torn apart by war.

Release date

‘Sisyphus: The Myth’ will start on February 17 at 9 pm KST and air every Wednesday and Thursday.

Plot 

The new JTBC K-drama offers a gritty plotline featuring a genius engineer Han Tae-sool played by Cho Seung-woo and his savior who comes from a different world of future, Kang Seo-hae played by Park Shin-hye. Tae-sool has co-founded Quantum and Time Company where he is often called the "miracle worker".

But even after establishing his company as one of the worlds’ best, he doesn’t show any attachment to it. His life counters the first transformation when his savior from the future comes to him face to face and tells him that she is here to save him and save the world.

Cho Seung-woo, the South Korean actor has starred in over 15 films including ‘The Classic’ (2003), ‘Marathon’ (2005), ‘Tazza: The High Rollers’ (2006) and ‘Inside Men’ (2015), television series like ‘The King's Doctor’ (2012), ‘God's Gift: 14 Days’ (2014), ‘Stranger’ 1&2 (2017&2020) and ‘Life’ but is most prominently known for his spectacular musical theater leads like ‘Jekyll & Hyde’, ‘Hedwig and the Angry Inch’ and ‘Man of La Mancha’ and more.

Park Shin-hye



 

Park Shin-hye, deemed as one of the most famous Korean actors has starred in hit series like ‘You're Beautiful’ (2009), ‘The Heirs’ (2013), ‘Pinocchio’ (2014–2015), ‘Doctors’ (2016), ‘Memories of the Alhambra’ (2018–2019) and the most recent one being ‘#Alive’ (2020).

The cast also includes stars like ‘Descendents of the Sun’ famed Tae In-ho, Chae Jong-hyup, Jeon Gook-hwan, Parasite star child actor Jung Hyeon-jun as the young Han Tae-sool and more.

‘Sisyphus: The Myth’ is directed by ‘The Legend of the Blue Sea’ famed Jin Hyeok and written by Lee Je-in and Jeon Chan-ho.
