Kody Brown is in a plural marriage and with it comes a lot of responsibilities, especially making sure that each wife is happy. The first one to marry Kody was Meri Brown. Meri and Kody were living in a happy marriage until more wives started coming in. Kody went on to marry Christine, Jeanelle and Robyn.

While the five of them lived happily together and made sure that the family grew, things between Meri and Kody started falling apart. The first signs of the pair falling apart were when Kody went on a honeymoon with Robyn. Robyn insisted Kody call his other wives even though he did not seem too keen about it.

While he finally agreed, his call with Meri left viewers wondering if he ever loved her. Without saying much, Kody was in a hurry to keep the call. However, Meri wanted to continue the conversation. She sounded upset and said that she missed him, but the same was not reciprocated.

Things really took a turn when Robyn entered the family. Fans believed that with Robyn's entry into the house, Kody had a new companion and this left Meri with little attention. Things between the couple turned so bad that Meri was forced to turn to the internet to find someone to talk to.

Even though that did not go well for her, there is no doubt that emotional unavailability pushed her to the extent of seeking companionship online. Now that the show has come to its Season 9, one can clearly see how the relationship between Meri and Kody deteriorated.

The two seemed happy and in love but now the distance between them is evident. Meri struggles to be in the same room as Kody or keep up with the conversations. Most of their conversations lead to arguments. There are times when Meri does not feel the need to engage in any conversation with Kody.

With things becoming so bad, there is no doubt that Meri hit the breaking point when Kody failed to be emotionally present for her. To make things worse, it seems like even the other wives are not there for her the way she had hoped.

With things becoming unsolvable for the couple at the moment, the question remains. Will the two seek counseling or is this the end of their relationship?

'Sister Wives' airs on Sundays at 10 pm ET on TLC.
