LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: Showtime's standalone app will bid farewell on Tuesday, April 30, marking the end of an era for countless devoted viewers.

Although Showtime's standalone app will be discontinued, viewers can continue enjoying Showtime content through the Paramount+ with SHOWTIME plan.

In January, Showtime's linear network underwent a rebranding and relaunch, merging with Paramount+ to form a unified streaming service.

As the closure of Showtime's standalone app draws near, fans have taken to social media platforms to share their thoughts and feelings about this transition.

Closure of Showtime's standalone app draws mixed reactions from fans

An X user said, "I mean ‘Paramount+ with Showtime’ is offered as a plan, so this was coming…"

Another fan shared a sentiment of nostalgia and significance, suggesting that the discontinuation of Showtime's standalone app symbolizes the end of an era.

He wrote, "Really End Of An Era. HBO (Go) & Showtime App Used To Hold Weight."

Another person wrote, "Yup no shocker here." While another quoted, "Now the next time I go home, I'm gonna have to show my momma how to work the Paramount app."

One fan said, "Don’t nobody wanna buy it like they’ve been buying and merging with everything else?"

Another person jokingly remarked, "Showtime had a streaming service?"

Another posted, "Didn't even know showtime had a streaming service. Just the stuff that shows up as locked on paramount plus."

"Now that subscribers can access their favorite Showtime programs on Paramount+ by subscribing to the Paramount+ with Showtime plan, the Showtime streaming service will shut down on April 30, 2024," wrote another fan.

Another fan wrote, "Gotta give credito @paramountplus for taking @Showtime and absolutely annihilating it. Basically dead now. Why would anyone buy a subscription for another garbage streaming service just to get a channel they used to enjoy & already pay extra for with their cable package? Nobody."

Another fan commented, "1. Nobody watches Showtime. 2. #Showtime had a streaming service?"

How much does the Paramount+ with SHOWTIME plan cost?

The Paramount+ with SHOWTIME plan costs $11.99 per month or $119.99 per year, plus applicable taxes.

This plan provides access to content from both Paramount+ and SHOWTIME, along with ad-free streaming.

This means subscribers can enjoy their favorite shows and movies without any interruptions from ads.
