Popular streaming platform Netflix is treating its viewers to heartwarming and moving Malaysian films this May, which includes 'Kongsi Raya', 'Prebet Sapu' (Hail, Driver!), and 'Showtime 1958' in celebration of the upcoming Hari Raya Aidilfitri celebrations. ‘Showtime 1958’ is based on the true story behind the iconic Selamat Hari Raya song written in 1958, by P Ramlee and Jamil Sulong during a variety show that they had organized to collect funds for fellow performers and friends who had lost their jobs at the studio.

Set in Singapore, 'Showtime 1958' takes viewers back to the prime days of Malay cinema. Directed by Anwardi Jamil, the film is a tribute to his late father, Datuk Jamil Sulong. The story is set during a 24-hour period at a concert organized by Ramlee and Jamil to raise funds for the Malayan Artistes Union. The visually-stunning period film ‘Showtime 1958’ which will be available on May 3, takes audiences back to the golden age of Malaysian cinema. Amai Kamarudin 



 

Amai is a Malaysian film actor, singer, host, comedian, and model. He is very active in television, film, advertising, and the theatre industry. He aspired to be an artist since childhood and in 2008 he got his big break when he debuted in a telefilm titled ‘Murabi’. Since then he has starred in many movies including ‘Temuan Takdir' (2016), and 'Kanang Anak Langkau The Iban Warrior' (2017).He has also been part of more than 100 commercials. Amai's favorite actors are P Count YouTubeRamlee, Salleh Kamil, Mawi, Luke Evans, and Johnny Depp. He aspires to debut in Hollywood one day.

Aprena Manrose



 

Aprena Manrose is a Malaysian actress. She is the daughter of the famous singer Iwan and the late actress Rosnah Mohd Noor. Her sister, Oktovia Manrose is also an actress. She made a name for herself after successfully portraying an antagonistic character named Suraya in the drama, ‘Pinggan Tak Retak, Nasi Tak Dingin’ (2017). Later, she starred in the drama 'Tiada Arah Jodoh Kita' (2018) as the main character named Afia Awliya  

Nasrizal Ngasri



 

Nasrizal Ngasri is a Malaysian actor, comedian, and host. He started his career as a child actor and is the son of a famous broadcaster Ngasri Sain. He is known for his ability to play with the emotions of the audience through his various acting characters, further expanding his talents as a versatile comedian. Some of his famous works include ‘1957: Hati Malaya’(2007), ‘Pak Pong’ (2017), and ‘Bella and Jamie’(2019).
