LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: The latest historical drama on FX, 'Shōgun,' immerses viewers in the captivating world of feudal Japan, offering a fascinating glimpse into a pivotal period in Japanese history.

Created by Jonathan van Tulleken, Charlotte Brandstrom, and Hiromi Kamata, 'Shōgun' is based on the 1975 novel of the same name by James Clavell. 

Starring Hiroyuki Sanada, Cosmo Jarvis, Anna Sawai, Tadanobu Asano, Hiroto Kanai, Fumi Nikaido, and Moeka Hoshi in pivotal roles, the series revolves around Lord Yoshii Toranaga (Hiroyuki Sanada), a powerful samurai lord who finds himself embroiled in a dangerous game of politics and survival.

When did 'Shōgun' premiere?

'Shōgun' premiered on Tuesday, February 27, on FX, with a double episode debut. 

The first two episodes, titled 'Chapter One: Anjin' and 'Chapter Two: Servants of Two Masters,' directed by Jonathan van Tulleken, introduced viewers to the world of feudal Japan and the intricate political landscape of the time. 

The miniseries has stuck to its weekly episode release schedule, with the third episode, 'Chapter Three: Tomorrow Is Tomorrow,' directed by Charlotte Brändström, debuting on Tuesday, March 5, and the fourth episode, 'Chapter Four: The Eightfold Fence,' directed by Frederick E.O. Toye, airing on Tuesday, March 12.

'Shōgun' Episode 5, titled 'Chapter Five: Broken to the Fist,' was released on Tuesday, March 19.

With just five episodes in the series, the season finale is scheduled to air on Tuesday, April 23.

The miniseries 'Shōgun' is available for streaming on FX and Hulu.  New episodes drop every Tuesday at 10 pm ET on FX's linear cable network.
