‘Shark Tank’: Barbara Corcoran steals $250K Bunch Bikes deal but will customers buy the costly $6,000 product?
Want to stroll in the park but can't leave your kids alone? Here's the perfect solution. An entrepreneur from Denton, Texas, pedals into the Tank to share the joy of family biking with his electric bike company.
Aaron Powell pitched his product Bunch Bikes and introduced bikes with baskets that the whole family can ride in together to the US. Calling cargo bikes special, Aaron said on his website: “They changed lives. They brought families together. They had the power to change our cities from the inside-out, and people couldn’t help but talk about them.”

Sharing the ‘Shark Tank’ experience, Powell revealed the set had been moved to a bubble at The Venetian hotel in Vegas. “While I had originally wanted my family to come with me, we decided that with Covid and quarantine protocols, it would be best if I went on my own. The doors opened and I looked down the hallway and there was Mr Wonderful staring me down. No turning back now!” he added.
On the show, he came seeking $250,000 for a 10 percent stake. Moreover, he also had a loan for the company and was in much debt. His pitch impressed the Sharks but it was Barbara Corcoran who made an offer. A series of negotiations followed and ultimately, the Bunch Bikes founder had to say yes to Barbara's offer! Many fans couldn't help but appreciate Barbara's negotiation skills.
However, many others were worried about other aspects, especially about why a car wasn't a better option than the bike. Quoting Kevin O'Leary, one fan wrote, “So I can buy the bike or send my kids to college.” Another said, “Daymond does have a point in regards to taking it apart for storage and transport.”
“The fact that the bike doesn't come apart easily is a real downside. It needs to be able to do that, especially for 6k,” one posted and another said, “Once a kid is 6 or 7, they aren't going to want to be in that or be too big for it, so you've spent 6k.” A third wrote, “If it was affordable, then it would be great for families and flying off the shelves. But $6k????”
“I mean, I guess you could take your 6k bike to buy your groceries at WholePaycheck, no one else could afford this, especially not for everyday life.” Giving him an idea, one posted, “Guy on #sharktank should aim to set up these bikes for a tourist rental type thing. #bunchbikes However, one straightaway wrote, That bike is not worth the money!”
