Who is Shaari Hasan? Man, 60, faces 20 years in jail for having sex with a goat
A 60-year-old man from Rawang, Malaysia, has been arrested for allegedly having sex with a goat. Shaari Hasan, who is believed to be a widower, reportedly had 'carnal intercourse' with one of his neighbor's female goats, which ultimately left the animal dead. The shocking assault came to light in July 2021 when the owner of the goat found a man lying partially naked with his pants down, next to the goat pen. She informed the police fearing the worst, while the man fled the scene in the meantime. The man was later nabbed and identified as Rawang resident Shaari Hasan.
Similar revolting acts of bestiality have been reported in the past in USA itself. Two weeks ago, Portland native Damon Cervantes was arrested for sexually assaulting a dog and a deer, along with a child he was babysitting. In March 2021, Florida veterinarian Prentiss Madden was arrested for allegedly having sex with dogs. In 2019, South African police arrested a man in Durban after he was caught having sex with his neighbor's pet cat.

Shaari Hasan allegedly raped the female goat at the back of his neighbor's home in Rawang, around 18 miles northwest of Kuala Lumpur. The neighbor got alerted after she heard the helpless animal making abnormal noises.
Police later found the dead goat at the neighbor's home and sent the goat's body to a veterinarian for necropsy. Meanwhile, a green T-shirt and brown pants which Hasan allegedly wore during the attack were seized by cops during his arrest. However, he later denied wearing the clothes and also pleaded not guilty to the attack.
Appearing in a Kuala Kubu Bharu court on Thursday, November 25, Hasan denied the shocking charges. However, the prosecution argued that he should be held without bail based on the depraved nature of his charges. On the other hand, Hasan's attorney sought his freedom via bail ahead of the trial in late December. The judge eventually denied him bail prior to his next court appearance.
If convicted, Hasan can face up to 20 years of hard time in jail as well as whipping, as per the laws of Malaysia. He might also be slapped with a hefty penalty along with imprisonment.
