LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: 'Sex/Life' just dropped on Netflix, and it got a spot in the Netflix top ten soon after its release. However, though the script tries hard to save the story, it does fall face-first into the pit of melodrama and steamy interludes. Despite the cheesiness, one particular shower scene from Season 1 had seized the attention of the audience and made them excited for season 2. This season answers many questions, like: Who does Billie end up with? What happens when she goes to Brad's penthouse? Do Billie and Cooper get separated? All these questions are answered in Season 2 in exchange for exaggerated acting with little to no space for development.

Season 2 stars the old gang, Sarah Shahi as Billie Connelly, Mike Vogel as Cooper Connelly, Adam Demos as Brad Simon, and Margaret Odette as Sasha Snow in the lead. There's also Darius Homayoun as Majid and Cleo Anthony as Kam.

'Sex/Life': Billie chooses to watch her ex Brad having sex with her best friend, here's why

Who does Billie end up with?

After running to Brad's penthouse in the last season, she enters his home and in a very cringe and weird way and says, "Now f**k me," after which they start kissing. Halfway through their passionate endeavor, Brad realizes that he is making a mistake and pushes Billie away. Soon after, he confesses to Billie that it took him a long time to get over her, and he can't keep doing this. He also tells her that he is now with someone else and that she is pregnant. Hearing this, Billie realizes that she has made a mistake and returns to her house, with Cooper waiting for her, agitated. She explains to him that it was never about Brad, but the traumas that led her to choose a life that she never actually wanted. Post this, the two get separated and are about to get divorced.

Billie moves back to New York and rents an apartment. In the hopes of taking her out of the house, Sasha takes her to a bar, where kismet interludes and Billie meets Majid, a charming man who over-exaggerates his acting to a point that you almost hate him. He is also a character written by keeping Mr Darcy from 'Pride and Prejudice' in mind, but with a cringe overtone to it. No, Majid isn't awkward, but he is too poetic and cheesy and tries hard to sell his "nice boy" character to the audience.

Sasha's past

The best aspect of Season 2 is that it takes you through flashbacks of how the character felt about the moment they are in conversation. The script does justice to Margaret Odette's Sasha, the best friend of the lead, who supports and has as much screen time as Billie. Sasha has been given justice by narrating her story about her part and how she became a writer, while the plot also brings back her first love, Kam, who is a doctor and runs an NGO helping people. Sasha and Kam reunite 17 years after their split on a TV interview they're both part of.

The script is impressive as there is a good amount of effort to introduce fresh ideas to the story, like Sasha being independent, the cut-throat internet culture, and the idea of being accepted on social media as a celebrity, but everything just melts away and is soon replaced by raunchy sex. Although the script has its heart in the right place, the erotic drama is too obsessed with sex to ever fully come to life.

'Sex/Life' Season 2 is now available to watch exclusively on Netflix.
