'Breathless' star Jean Seberg found herself in the middle of an FBI investigation, with the organization targeting her in the late 60s for her political and personal-level involvement with the Black Panther Party.
Fifty years later, her incredible true story is coming to the big screen, with the 'Twilight' saga leading lady Kristen Stewart playing the titular role of the actress in 'Seberg.' Here's all you need to know about it!
Release date
As of now, no official release date has been announced for the movie, but it is slated to premiere this August 30 at the Venice Film Festival. In theatres, the film is supposed to arrive sometime in the later part of 2019.
Plot
The political thriller chronicling the life of Jean Dorothy Seberg has been "inspired by true events about the French New Wave darling and Breathless star, Jean Seberg, who in the late 1960s was targeted by Hoover’s FBI, because of her political and romantic involvement with civil rights activist Hakim Jamal," reveals the official synopsis. Seberg was an American actress who lived half her life in France and her performance in Jean-Luc Godard's 'Breathless' immortalized her as an icon of French New Wave cinema. She passed away from suspected suicide in the wave of the FBI investigation targeted at her, with her husband blaming the organization for her death.
Creator
'Seberg' comes from director Benedict Andrew, marking his second feature film after 2016's 'Una' debuted at the Telluride Film Festival. Anna Waterhouse and Joe Shrapnel are both on board with writing for the film, as well as serving as executive producers.
