'Saturday Night Live' takes on coronavirus, compares it to Stitch from 'Lilo and Stitch': 'Nasty little thing'

On the February 29 episode of 'Saturday Night Live', the cast decided to talk about the coronavirus outbreak in their cold open segment.

The scene parodied a White House Press Conference where Mike Pence  (Beck Bennett) started the conversation by introducing himself by saying: "Most of you know me from the phrase 'even if Trump was removed, we’d still be stuck with Mike Pence.'" Without beating around the bush, he decided to address the issue of coronavirus and called upon  Dr Ben Carson (Kenan Thompson) to educate people about the state of the country.

Carson was described as "the brain surgeon they put in charge of house development." Carson decided to inform people about how the coronavirus looked. He then took out a picture of Stitch from the hit Disney show 'Lilo and Stitch' and said it looked like this. "As you can see from his sharp teeth, he's a nasty little thing," he said.

Pence suggested that one of the best ways to avoid getting coronavirus was by not touching the hands of people who are coughing or by closing eyes during sex. Meanwhile, Carson suggested that one could buy masks that read "Make America Great Again" to protect themselves but warned people that it may take time as they were being manufactured in Wuhan, China.

Fred Armisen, playing Mike Bloomberg, was also present during the conference and when he was asked how he came in he replied, "I just walked in coughing and everyone got out of my way."

Meanwhile, the host for the evening, John Mulaney appeared in the cold open, playing Joe Biden. "Guess who just kicked butt in south Cracker Barrel," he said while hinting at Biden's win in the South Carolina Democratic primary.

There is no doubt that all the cast members put on a good show and fans were also impressed with how the show's cold segment dealt with the government's actions around coronavirus.

'Saturday Night Live' airs on Saturdays at 11:30 pm ET on NBC.
