Meghan Markle's sister slams her for using people as stepping stones: 'She ghosted her family when she met Harry'
Samantha Markle has slammed her younger sister Meghan Markle and claimed that she used people as "stepping stones" throughout her career and broke ties with friends and family when she became famous.
The 54-year-old estranged sister also compared Meghan to Caligula and called her a "rogue". “That's like asking when Caligula went rogue,” she said when asked why the daughter-in-law of late Lady Diana and Prince Charles cut ties with the Markle family and her friends after marrying Prince Harry.
Harry and Meghan shocked the world in January this year when they announced that they would be stepping down as senior members of the royal family to become financially independent. The couple later moved to Canada along with their son Archie and recently shifted base to Los Angeles reportedly to be closer to "their new team of Hollywood agents and PRs."
Speaking exclusively to Daily Star Online, the half-sister of the former American actress also claimed that Meghan only speaks with her mother Doria Ragland in the family. “There was no excuse to change like this because nobody did anything wrong to her. It was just selfish and self-preserving and it seems like she was a squirrel hoarding nuts for the winter," she said.
“As soon as she got into a relationship with Harry she decided to seal off the hatches because she was worried that people would want her resources or money, which is crazy – nobody wanted anything from her," Samantha added.
“It seems like she's that way with everybody using people as stepping stones and objectifying them for some goal. I think there is a long line of people who can attest to that. My dad didn't deserve it, there was no reciprocation, no gratitude and then she took all the credit and glory for herself rather than being grateful to him for everything,” the mother-of-three said.
Samantha, who holds an MA in Counselling, continued saying, “She traded out long term friends for stepping stones ever since she got the Suits gig. She was busy working, then ghosted family when she met Harry. Soho changed her."
Talking about her father, Thomas Markle Snr, 75, Samantha said that she feels bad for him as he is part of the vulnerable group affected by the novel coronavirus pandemic and has still had no contact with Meghan. “I'm really in shell shock that if the world could end my sister can't even call my dad. I'm so broken-hearted for him. There are not enough words,” she added.
This is not the first time that Samantha has criticized Meghan. Recently, she slammed Meghan and her husband Harry calling them "horribly cruel" for abandoning the royal family when the UK was suffering because of the novel coronavirus pandemic. "Just the idea of abandoning both families during such a horrific time, without so much as a phone call is shocking. Considering he (Thomas Markle) went through two heart attacks without so much as a call, I guess this is status quo for her," she said. “But I think now to abandon the British people and the British Royal Family at this critical time is just almost... horribly cruel. There's no other way to slice this apple," she added.
