LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: It's hard to imagine any other actress playing Max Mayfield on 'Stranger Things', not after Sadie Sink made the role her own in the hit 80s Netflix horror drama. But it wasn't almost to be as the Texas star almost lost the role because of her age. She was 14 when she auditioned for the show, but per her recent interview with Fashion Magazine, this was older than what the showrunners expected.

Sink's character had one of the more crucial roles in 'Stranger Things' Season 4. Both the volumes saw her fend off the Vecna (Jamie Campbell Bower) threat with some help from Kate Bush and her 'Running Up the Hill'. She was a target since Volume 1 given her traumatic past, and just before Vecna makes a hasty retreat after battling Eleven (Millie Bobby Brown), he attacks Max who breaks all her limbs and loses her sight. She dies for well over a minute only for Eleven to bring her back. The final minutes see her in a coma, and with the merge of the evil dimension shown, expect her to play a key role in Season 5.

How old is Sadie Sink?

At the time of writing, Sink is listed as 20 years old. Her character was introduced with Billy (Dacre Montgomery) in 'Stranger Things' Season 2 which was released in 2017. When she auditioned for the role, she was 14 and was two years elder than Brown and Noah Schnapp (13). According to the Parade, co-stars Gaten Matarazzo (who plays Dustin Henderson) and Caleb McLaughlin (who plays Lucas Sinclair) were pretty much as old as Sink was.

The 'Eli' star recalled how she pleaded with the casting director Carmen Cuba to give her a shot to showcase her ability. "I just begged and pleaded with them to give me more material so I could show them something fresh." She will be seen next in 'Stranger Things' Season 5.

'Stranger Things' seasons 1-4 are streaming on Netflix.
