'Run On' Episode 14: Will Seon-gyeom give in to his father's wishes to help U-sik, give up on Mi-joo?
'Run On' Episode 14 sees Seon-gyeom attempt to find a way to support the junior athlete that he represents and also, be with Mi-joo (Shin Se-kyung) who he loves dearly. After he begged her to stay with him instead of choosing to run away from him because of his father, she gives in because she understands that this is not his fault. So instead, she calms him down as he had after all broken down in tears and then agrees to continue dating. However, she explains that she hates to be photographed, and that is when Seon-gyeom (Im Siwan) realizes what else his father had been up to.
He apologizes and while he wonders how to meet her in the future, she comes up with a solution and asks him, "Would you like to have ramyeon at my place before you leave?" Of course, anyone who is familiar with pop references from Korean movies and shows know that this is a line that women use to indicate to men that they are dating that they would like to now sleep with them, take their relationship to the next level.
So that is precisely what happened here as well, and while all of this hints at a happy place for the two of them, there is no way Seon-gyeom's father wouldn't interfere. Just as we think this, we see Seon-gyeom get a call from his father's office, and when he does arrive, his father tells him that he can fund U-sik and also hire Seon-gyeom as his agent but in return, he asks Seon-gyeom to apologize to Dan-ah's father for making a scene.
So Seon-gyeom agrees and stays behind to apologize, however, his father goes the extra mile and ends up talking about Seon-gyeom's marriage to Dan-ah again. Seon-gyeom controls his temper but once the Chairman leaves, he lashes out at his father but the man who doesn't care about anyone except himself ends up telling Seon-gyeom that he doesn't care about who his son dates as long as he marries Dan-ah. Seon-gyeom is frustrated but for now there is nothing that he could tell his father. So instead he leaves and meets Mi-joo who helps him get over his father's unrealistic expectations of his son.
On the other hand, Yeong-hwa (Kang Tae-oh) and Dan-ah (Sooyoung) are also overcoming the obstacle of not being able to understand certain aspects of one another. However, they move towards understanding each other quite well. While Dan-ah might have believed that Yeong-hwa was mad at her about the birthday party, and hence he had skipped town; it turns out that he had actually visited his parents' because his mother was sick.
She visits him unannounced and even invites him to stay with her overnight and the more time Dan-ah spends with him, the more she falls for him. It is clear that she wouldn't be interested in marrying Seon-gyeom, not even to make her position in her father's company clear, but then, we can trust her to come up with a crazy plan that could get all of them out of trouble.
