'RuPaul's Drag Race' Finale: Jaida, Gigi and Crystal face extreme lip-sync challenge ahead of crowning moment

VH1-backed 'RuPaul's Drag Race' is coming to a close in the most non-showy way. The finale will air on May 29, Friday, at 8/7c. Although the top three queens — Gigi Goode, Jaida Essence Hall and Crystal Methyd — will dress up and serve a bunch of drag-worthy looks in the finale, the story would have been different if the episode was shot in a studio with a live audience and a panel of celebrity judges.

However, those non-social distancing days are far behind us and everyone has to get used to working out of their homes until cleared to do otherwise. In the reunion special episode that aired last week, host-mentor RuPaul Andres Charles asked the final three their closing thoughts about the season, to which they responded positively.

It showed how much they have grown and evolved in the weeks that led to the big day. Despite all the nasty arguments, animosity and misunderstandings, all they are taking away is hope and a promise of a better, inclusive future. "Everyone is so talented and I am honored to be a part of this super talented cast of girls," Gigi said, while Jaida added: "Dreams can come true."

A thrilled RuPaul congratulated the queens on reaching this far in the competition and announced what was coming next for them. He mentioned that it would be a first-of-its-kind finale where the ladies will lip-sync for the big prize out of the comfort of their homes. In addition to this, they would have to lip-sync to as many as five songs. Even though, it meant multiple opportunities but at the same time it would put pressure on their performances. Lip-syncing is used as a way to eliminate queens from the show. It is the last and final opportunity for the queens to impress RuPaul.

Who is likely to win?

It's hard to predict at the moment since everyone enjoys a loyal fan base. But Jaida seems to have stood out in her approach to the competition.  She hardly ever doubted her skills. She has been a favorite all-around and really talented, which explains why and how she won weekly challenges and that too thrice.
