'Riverdale' Season 4: Archie's Pureheart makes an appearance during 'Halloween' while Cheryl and Toni get the chills at Thistlehouse
With Halloween coming up, it looks like 'Riverdale' has a plan or two up its sleeve to spook viewers with some chilling plot points. Ahead of the fourth episode set to air on October 30, The CW has released the official synopsis for the chapter titled. 'Halloween'.
The synopsis reads: "HALLOWEEN IN RIVERDALE — When ominous videotapes begin appearing on doorsteps across Riverdale, widespread fear quickly returns to the town. At Stonewall Prep, Jughead (Cole Sprouse) learns about a series of mysterious disappearances that have occurred to former students at the school. Meanwhile, Archie’s (KJ Apa) plan to create a safe space for the town’s kids gets derailed when some unwanted visitors crash their Halloween party.
"Elsewhere, Veronica (Camila Mendes) comes face to face with trouble, while Betty’s (Lili Reinhart) past comes back to haunt her. Lastly, a haunting at Thistlehouse rocks Cheryl (Madelaine Petsch) and Toni (Vanessa Morgan) to their core. Madchen Amick, Skeet Ulrich, Casey Cott, and Charles Melton also star. Erin Feeley directed the episode written by Janine Salinas Schoenberg ."
Ahead of the Season 4 premiere, the show released a poster titled 'Sex. Lies. Videotapes' and it seems like 'Halloween' will have an explanation for these tapes. Fans have been speculating if this has something to do with The Farm or something sinister that Penelope Blossom has up her sleeve. Last we saw, she had vanished into thin air in the previous season's finale.
Perhaps, Jug's (Cole Sprouse) mysterious vanishing and the ominous spring break story begins with the next episode when he learns about students disappearing from Stonewall Prep. It's very unlike Jug to not investigate and maybe he starts poking around which isn't a good sign.
Archie Andrews (KJ Apa) is trying his best to be the man his dad was, but of course, times have changed. From plans to convert his boxing gym to a community center to have a safe space for kids, he's making a sincere effort to bring about a change, except things don't really appear to go smoothly for Red. And, there's this Pureheart, the Powerful storyline from the comics that is yet to be explored. From the images released ahead of the episode, we see him wearing the iconic cape.
Cheryl (Madelaine Petsch) and Toni (Vanessa Morgan) too will have their part of the story told and with the synopsis saying the duo will be "haunted to the core" at Thistlehouse, we're guessing it has got to do something with a Blossom appearance, and no, it isn't Jason. Betty's past is back to haunt her. Does this mean the Black Hood or a different person masquerading as one is taking over from where her dad Hal Cooper (Lochlyn Munro) left off? Plus, there was this whole storyline about Betty's dark side. With Jug out of town, is there some incident that triggers her dark, violent side?
It does look like the term "Chilling" is taken quite literally in 'Halloween'. Can't wait for this one.
