'Riverdale' Season 6 Episode 2 preview: 'Fast Times at Riverdale High' sees the teens go back to school kicking off their senior year

Even though 'In Memoriam' was the season opener, the second episode will technically serve as the de facto premiere considering the season's storyline
PUBLISHED OCT 16, 2019

'Riverdale' season four was off to a quiet start with the opening episode paying a heartfelt tribute to the late Luke Perry who played Archie's (KJ Apa) dad, Fred Andrews.

In episode two titled 'Fast Times at Riverdale High' (a tease of the '82 teen coming-of-age drama 'Fast Times at Ridgemont High'), it looks like school time for the four teens again.

Seasons two and three didn't really see them spend much time in school as each of them had their own demons to fight. However, the fight looks to be done and normalcy ready to sink in. Except that it seldom pans out that way.

Even though 'In Memoriam' was the season opener, the second episode will technically serve as the de facto premiere considering the season's storyline.

The promo sees Veronica (Camila Mendes) charge up Archie and Jughead's (Cole Sprouse) spirits on day one of the senior year. The clip also offers a glimpse of Cheryl Blossom owning the school halls like she used to in the pilot season and there's a musical number featuring Ronnie and Toni (Vanessa Morgan).

For the boys, football takes precedence and Reggie (Charles Melton) butts heads with Mad Dog (Eli Goree). The latter was convinced by Archie to join school and football.

Meanwhile, a rejuvenated Kevin (Casey Scott) witnesses someone having a swing at a windshield with a bat. The teaser may have only given a glimpse of what to expect, however, the synopsis dishes out a lot more details.

 Watch the promo here:

The official synopsis reads: "FIRST DAY OF SENIOR YEAR — Archie encourages Mad Dog to attend Riverdale High and join the football team. Jughead meets Mr. Chipping, who offers him a spot at an elite school called Stonewall Prep."

"Veronica is conflicted when information about her involvement in Hiram's arrest leaks to the public. Kevin applies for a spot on the Blue & Gold to make amends with Betty. And Cheryl goes head to head with Mr. Honey, the school’s new principal," the synopsis adds.

There is also the matter of Jug joining a new school and the reasons for it are unknown. Why did he get an offer in the first place? Writing skills maybe? Should he then trot off to the news school? What about Betty (Lili Reinhart)?

For now, there's a lot more mystery brewing and the actual story hasn't even been narrated yet. If anything, episode two promises to be set the ball rolling and give us a season we didn't see coming. 'Riverdale' season four airs on Wednesdays at 8 pm on The CW.
