The spotlight is finally on Veronica Lodge (Camila Mendes) after 12 episodes of what has been the most scintillating and outlandish season. For an instrumental character, Ronnie has been largely been on the side with minor plotlines. From what we know have seen so far, the Lodge heiress has been busy with running La Bonne Nuit smoothly, fending off her father, Hiram Lodge's (Mark Consuelos) snark and surprise attacks, and getting that rum patented. She went from Lodge to Luna for a bit there but is back again and its about time.

And then there's the whole storyline about her college plans, which her father foiled. However, there were big changes coming in. Hiram was diagnosed with a neuromuscular disease that would impair his functions greatly. This meant calling a truce with the man who's been her worst enemy for quite a long time now. Adding to it is the plan to attend Barnard College in New York City. Now that's a lot to bear and go through.

The official synopsis hints at the downward spiral that Ronnie would see: "A LOOK INTO THE FUTURE – Worried about what the future may hold for him after high school, Archie (KJ Apa) seeks advice from an unlikely source — Hiram Lodge (Mark Consuelos). Meanwhile, Veronica (Camila Mendes) begins to spiral after learning some devastating news about someone close to her."

"Finally, accusations made against Jughead Jones (Cole Sprouse) leaves his future at Stonewall Prep hanging in the balance. Lili Reinhart, Madelaine Petsch, Marisol Nichols, Casey Cott, Skeet Ulrich, and Vanessa Morgan also star. Claudia Yarmy directed the episode written by Chrissy Maroon & Evan Kyle (#413.) Original airdate 2/12/2020."

And the promo adds to what the synopsis has to say:

That Ronnie is the in way of a few curveballs doesn't really come as a surprise. The ongoing season has given a look at how the core four approach their final year in school and choose their own path. Archie Andrews (KJ Apa) has all but decided that he's going to step into his father's shoes. Riverdale is home and he's the son of the soil. Betty Cooper and Jughead have their own demons to fight and such is the unpredictability factor that we don't know how it's gonna end for the sleuthing couple.

'The Ides of March' is a reference to the Romans as a deadline for settling debts. And to put it in context, Ronnie has a few to settle. What does the future hold in store for her? Only time will tell.
