'Riverdale': Remake of Skeet Ulrich's iconic 'Scream' scene convinces fans FP Jones is the Gargoyle King

Skeet Ulrich, who plays the role of FP Jones in 'Riverdale' not only relived his iconic 1996's 'Scream' scene but also convinced fans he may be the Gargoyle King. Season 3 episode 6 titled the 'Manhunter' was about a lot of things, from Archie Andrews breaking up with Veronica Lodge to Evelyn Evernever coming back to the screen to give seizures to people around her and, of course, the death we cannot get over; the murder of Joaquin DeSantos.

But now, more importantly, we have reached an inch closer to the identity of the masked murderer who has already killed about five important characters on the show.

Following the flashback episode titled 'The Midnight Club,' it was more than obvious the mysterious Gargoyle King, who has surfaced after the game of Gryphons and Gargoyles was reintroduced, existed even during the '90s and claimed the life of then-Riverdale High principal, Mr. Featherhead.

So, fans were on a mission to list out the potential murderer, then and now, and on that list featured almost every crazy Riverdale parent we know of, especially Hiram and Hermione Lodge. Not many thought FP Jones could be the killer, because, let's face it, he is Jughead Jones' dad, a Serpent, Alice Cooper's ex-flame and a lot of other good things. So, obviously, he could not be the one donning a black robe and faking branches and twigs for his limbs.

However, in the recent episode, it so happened that Betty Cooper questioned her mother about more mysteries revolving the role-playing game after Betty failed to squeeze out answers from the Riverdale's '90s gang at Speakeasy. The meeting was dispersed by FP Jones when he learned that his only son Jughead was playing the game. He was also the one to burn the game manual in an earlier episode.

With Betty pushing her mother to answer the question about the mysterious death of Dilton Doiley's dad, Daryl, and the subsequent cover-up of his murder with the article Alice Cooper penned, the grounds for Scream's opening act is established as Alice makes popcorn on the stove. Then all of a sudden, electricity gets cut and the house is plunged into darkness.

A shadow swiftly moves outside of the window and there's a bang on the door. When Alice answers the door, there is no one. As she closes the door and turns around, the notorious Gargoyle King emerges in the middle of their living room.

Screaming, the mother-daughter duo run upstairs to Betty's room, only to find Dilton Doiley's headstone with their names sprayed over it. Featured on the bed is also a skull. The alarmed duo is shaken but their fears aren't over as someone rustles outside Betty's window, climbing up into Betty's room. As Alice gears up to fight, FP Jones pops in and says he tried to get in, but someone slammed the door in his face.

Alice hugs him and narrates what happened, citing the Gargoyle King is downstairs, but instead of going after the killer, like anyone would do, he pulls her into his arm and hushes her to calm down. Betty stares at the spectacle and he looks right back at Betty.

Scream fans in general and Ulrich's fans in particular will know the whole scene was a replica of the iconic 1996 movie 'Scream' where Riverdale's hot dad played the role of Billy Loomis, who climbs through Sidney Prescott's window to "save" her from the killer, when in fact, he is the killer.

So, the remake of this scene is significant as far as the identity of Gargoyle King is concerned. Also, a reminder that he gets extra mad at Jughead when he gets involved with the lethal game. In the same episode, he had handcuffed our Serpent King to the refrigerator as a punishment for playing Gryphons and Gargoyles.

Wonder what his motive would be if he were to be the Gargoyle King. Why would he want Archie dead? Or, even kill Joaquin DeSantos who was a Serpent anyway before joining the Gargoyle gang. I have chills running down my spine thinking FP Jones is the killer. Not another dad again 'Riverdale'!
