John Boyega became a symbol of hope and inspiration for many when he gave an impassioned speech during the Black Lives Matter protests in London on Wednesday, June 3. In a video that went viral on Twitter, Boyega is heard saying, "Black lives have always mattered. We have always been important. We have always meant something. We have always succeeded regardless. And now is the time. I ain’t waiting." He is also seen in other videos encouraging Black men to take care of Black women, promising, "They are ours!" and encouraging a revitalized sense of responsibility.

'Star Wars' filmmaker Rian Johnson extended his support to Boyega by retweeting the viral video along with the caption, "Love this man." The comments on his tweet led to a peculiar discussion. While many were full of praise for Boyega, several fans started talking about Johnson's film 'Knives Out 2' and begged the director to take Boyega in it. The discussion turned bizarre when many fans started discussing Boyega's role in the 'Star Wars' sequel trilogy.

"Cast him in Knives Out 2, please!" A fan tweeted. "Cast him in the knives out sequel him and Daniel craig would be amazing," another tweeted. "Well we now have one confirmed cast member for Knives Out 2," another wrote. "Star Wars did him so dirty in that last film," one wrote. "Man, if only someone could have written him a really stellar role that reflects how important he is," tweeted another user. This led to a discussion on how Johnson had not given Boyega a cohesive role in the trilogy, and that he deserved better.

Appalled by this, other fans requested their community to focus on the current situation instead of the film. "Some of y’all shouldn’t complain about the movie right now. Support John for standing up for himself and other blacks in this world. He’s doing a good thing. If Hollywood doesn’t support him, their loss," one wrote. "To summarise these comments, it seems to be 50% of people praising Boyega for partaking in this protest movement and the other 50% are just asking Rian to cast him in Knives Out 2. Sound about right?" wrote a fan. One fan praised Johnson for his support and wrote, "I love this tweet. I don't want to read the comments."
