When 'Real Housewives of Dallas' star Brandi Redmond's old video filled with racist comments against Asians resurfaced on the internet, it ruffled quite a few feathers. Fans were fuming at Brandi for ignorantly mocking Asians and their slanted eyes, in front of her children. Following the immense backlash she received on the internet, the housewife even contemplated committing suicide and had to check into rehab to seek help.

On Season 5 premiere episode of 'RHOD', we saw Brandi feeling guilty about her past actions. Unfortunately for Brandi, the addition of a new housewife, Dr Tiffany Moon, who is of Asian origin, didn't help her much. Much prior to crossing paths with Brandi, Tiffany shared with D'Andra Simmons that she had seen Brandi's video and wasn't pleased with it. Although D'Andra tried her best to explain to Tiffany that Brandi was just being funny and wasn't being malicious or racist, the new housewife took it with a pinch of salt.

Later, even Stephanie Hollman tried to lobby for Brandi by declaring her as a really nice and funny person. Finally, when Tiffany met Brandi, the housewife broke down into tears and apologized for her video. She even shared how the backlash over the video affected her and pushed her to the edge. Tiffany was taken aback on hearing how deeply Brandi was affected by the video. She pulled Brandi aside and made it clear that she didn't want the ginger-haired housewife to feel like she was going after her. But Tiffany also wanted to make it clear to Brandi that her actions were extremely hurtful and unacceptable.

The new housewife opened up to Brandi by sharing a painful story about her childhood. She explained how when she was three years old, her parents left her behind in China and moved to the US to seek a better life. From the age of three to six, Tiffany was left with her grandparents, and finally, at six, she was put on a plane alone in Beijing and sent to New York, to reunite with her parents. Unfortunately, when she came to the US, she didn't know any English and had to struggle to learn the language. She broke down when she remembered how her classmates at school mocked her by squinting and stretching their eyes to imitate her.

A fan tweeted, "Wow Tiffany’s story is heartbreaking shows you how resilient kids can be sadly a lot of immigrant kids go through this which makes one toughen up a bit but it can be really lonely and scary which I guess is what has given most the drive to succeed in America #rhod." Another said, "Tiffany's backstory is bringing me to tears, I'm so glad she gets to tell it on such a large platform #RHOD." Hearing someone’s 1st hand experience of racism esp at an early impressionable age is sad & hard to hear but needed so we can be sensitive to & love others. We all have amazing differences. #RHOD."
