Are Native Americans 'invisible' to Covid-19? Here's why 'Return to Amish' star Jeremiah Raber won't wear mask
Thanks to the deadly coronavirus that's doing rounds, using a hand sanitizer and wearing masks have become an important preventive measure to reduce the chances of contracting the virus. Unfortunately not everybody's on board with wearing masks.
Many people refuse to wear masks saying that they can't breath when they put it on. Although we have heard many creative excuses for avoiding wearing mask, it's 'Return to Amish' star Jeremiah Raber's reasoning for not wearing a mask that takes the cake for being the most bizarre reason for avoiding wearing mask. During the premiere episode of season 6 of the popular TLC reality show, Jeremiah was spotted without a mask. When he is asked by people around him to wear a mask, instead of obliging to their request the star began cussing them out. He shared his reason for refusing to wear a mask in his confessional.

When his wife Carmella Raber too urged him wear a mask, Jeremiah refused to and revealed that he read somewhere that Native Americans are "invisible" to the deadly virus, and thus just like them even he wouldn't be able to contract the virus. So, he doesn't't have to wear a mask, When his wife pointed out that she could catch the virus though, Jeremiah mocked her by stating that she was already wearing a mask, so she should be fine.
When fans heard Jeremiah's explanation they were both amused and appalled by his reasoning. A fan tweeted, "HES INVISIBLE TO THE VIRUS OMG SEND HELP IM ON THE FLOOR #returntoamish." Another fan wrote, "You just knew Jeremiah would be a superspreader #ReturntoAmish."

Many fans also speculated that Jeremiah might just be a Trump/ MAGA supporter, who was using (the fake) Native Americans theory to avoid wearing mask. A fan pointed, "Jeremiah is most DEF a trumper, thats why he's not wearing a mask. It has NOTHING to do with being Native American. #ReturnToAmish." Another fan echoed similar thoughts with, "I bet Jeremiah would wear a mash if it was a red MAGA one #ReturnToAmish."

According to The Harvard Gazette, the Native Americans have been "disproportionately affected by COVID-19". "According to Indian Health Services, there are more than 3,607 confirmed cases of the coronavirus among Native American tribes, with more than 2,000 of them on the Navajo reservation, which stretches across parts of Arizona, New Mexico, and Utah and is home to 250,000 people. As of April 30, the Navajo nation had the third-highest per capita rate of COVID-19 in the country, after New Jersey and New York. Worsening the situation, Native Americans appear to have a higher risk of serious complications because they are likelier to suffer from diabetes, heart disease, and other conditions," reveals the report.
