The Arizona Representative wrote a caption along with the clip: "Remember the reason for the season!" probably hinting at Hillary Clinton's exclamation in the video: 'Jesus, Mary and Joseph'

Republican Congressman Paul Gosar, on Christmas Eve, shared a video on Twitter of former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton and a light fixture falling on her from 27 years ago.

The Arizona Representative, along with the clip, wrote a caption, saying: "Remember the reason for the season!" The clip was taken from Clinton's first interview on '60 Minutes' from 1992, where she joined husband Bill Clinton, who was the governor of Arkansas at the time.

The duo was discussing Bill's run for president and accusations that he had an affair. Nearly 40 minutes into the interview, a light bar, which was set up for the interview, crashed inches from Hillary on to the couch where they were sitting.

As the fixture fell, the Clintons jumped off the couch and away from the light as Hillary exclaimed in shock: "Jesus, Mary and Joseph."

It is possible that Gosar was referring to the Biblical names Clinton used when he wrote: "Remember the reason for the season." His communication director, Ben Goldey, in a statement to Newsweek, said that there was no "deeper meaning at play" when Gosar posted the video.

Gosar's post, however, was not taken well by social media users with some reporting the clip for promoting violence against the former first lady.

The president of the Center for American Progress, Neera Tanden, in a tweet claimed that Gosar's behavior was one of the reasons his family made an advertisement encouraging voters to support his opponent.

Historian Kevin Kruse also referred to Gosar's family video,  writing: "Remember when your brothers and sisters cut a TV ad saying how awful you were? I guess that's why you think the season is meant for making awful comments like this and not, you know, spending time with family that loves you."

Six of Gosar's nine siblings appeared in a political ad ahead of the 2018 election endorsing his opponent Democratic candidate David Brill.

His siblings slammed Gosar for his rhetoric and stances on specific policies, including social security and health care. The representative, meanwhile, claimed that his siblings in the video were "disgruntled Hillary supporters" who hate President Donald Trump.

Clinton's daughter, Chelsea Clinton, also took a shot at the GOP Congressman, saying: "At 11 AM on Christmas Eve, we were making cookies for Santa. Thank you Congressman @RepGosar for reminding me of my dad's quick reflexes."
