'Reprisal': All the reasons why we think Hulu's revenge drama should get a Season 2
Spoilers ahead for Season 1 of Hulu's 'Reprisal'
Season 1 of 'Reprisal' dropped on December 6. Through 10 hour-long episodes, the noir-esque drama told the story of Doris Quinn, formerly known as Katherine Harlow, and her quest to avenge those who wronged her. It is not an easy journey for Abigail Spencer's Doris has quite the task on her hands.
Doris is pitted against her brother Burt (Rory Cochrane), the founder of The Banished Brothers. Years ago, Burt had, in an attempt to kill Doris, tied her to a truck by chains and dragged her through a field leaving her for dead. But he never checked if she really breathed her last.
So here is Doris back for revenge. Along the way, she finds herself a crew, leaves a trail of dead bodies and destruction behind her.
The long and genuinely stretched out storyline finally ends in Doris getting her revenge — she is successful in killing Bash, the love of her life from almost a lifetime ago who also had a role to play in Burt's plan. She also successfully kills Burt in a painfully predictable final scene.
And just as it seems like Doris fulfilled her purpose at the end of the series and successfully achieved what her character had set out to do indicating that her arc has come to an end, unknown to her, the wheels for a second season might have already set into motion.
In her quest, Doris sure left a lot of damage and devastation behind her. Just before he died, Burt had figured out who the mole in the system was — Mena Massoud's Ethan. Just as the River Phoenix rescues him once again, Ethan comes clean with them revealing that it was him all along.
As someone who had always regarded his family at The Banished Brothers with utmost importance, Matty (Rhys Wakefield) feels a mix of emotions — betrayal, anger, frustration and hurt.
After he beats Ethan black and blue to his heart's content, the River Phoenix sets out to find the woman who started it out. Just behind them, following the trail of destruction is Meredith (Madison Davenport).
At the same time, Ron Perlman's Big Graham is following Doris for revenge of his own — for shutting down his laundering business and killing his partner. He was an on-again-off-again character in the first season whose arc didn't completely come to a conclusion.
And so, it does seem likely that these characters might make a comeback should Hulu pick up the series for a Season 2. Even if Doris has fulfilled her process, she has, in the process, made new enemies and they will return for retribution.
Season 1 of 'Reprisal' is currently streaming on Hulu.
