'Record of Youth' Episode 14: Park Bo-gum's 'Reply 1988' costar Hyeri's cameo rooting for reunion on screen
'Record of Youth' Episode 13 saw Hyeri, who worked with Park Bo-gum in 'Reply 1988', appear in a cameo as an actor who hires An Jeong-ah as a makeup artist. She is someone that Jeong-ah is introduced to by Won Hae-hyo, so there isn't any interaction between Hye-jun and Hyeri's character, but fans cannot let go of an opportunity where they could possibly see Duk-Seon and Taek in the same frame again. It has been five years since 'Reply 1988' premiered and marked the first leading roles for both Bo-gum and Hyeri. The show, which is part of the popular 'Reply' series is one of the best-rated shows of the K-drama genre.
It is this reason why the interest in Hyeri's cameo in 'Record of Youth' has increased. For now, she only shares screen space with Park So-dam but fans hope that the show has at least one scene planned which includes Hyeri and Bo-gum's on-screen reunion. Take Lee Sung-kyung, Park Seo-joon, or the other popular artists' cameos in the show, for instance, they have all had one show with the lead and we hope we are not disappointed.
One fan shared on Reddit, "Hyeri's scene made me smile soo much!! I loved it! I'm hoping we'd see her interact with Hye-Jun... But not getting my hopes up for a 1988 reunion." Another fan shared excitement and wrote, "Waaaah my heart screamed when I saw Hyeri (even for just a short while). My Reply 1988 heart is so happy [heart emoji] Choi Taek and Duk Seon!" To this, a follower responded, "I hope there will be a scene for our baby Taeki and Dukseon! Hyeri posted a photo so I think there will be a moment for them. fingers crossed!"
The picture the fan here is referring to is the one that Hyeri uploaded on her official Instagram handle. She poses with Bo-gum in the picture, and captioned the picture, "With #RecordofYouth superstar Sa Hye jun". No scenes together were however hinted at in the promo of the upcoming episode.
'Reply 1988' did not only draw on the talents of Hyeri and Bo-gum but also spotlighted other talents including Ryoo Joon-yeol and Go Kyung-pyo, among others. The multistarrer is the latest edition of the 'Reply' series that draws mainly on the nostalgia of the year that the show depicts. So in 'Reply 1988' fans relived through the introduction of using a walkman, denim, dyeing hair using household items among other things. Set amid all of this is the romance and the ever-evolving question of who Duk-seon ends up with. It is through Duk-seon's eyes that we see the era unfold and it is her life we experience and the man that she falls in love with is the young, genius Baduk player Taek.
