The Bachelor's Arie Luyendyk gets engaged to Lauren Burnham after his split from Becca Kufrin
In the sudden twist on the Bachelor, Lauren happens to take the man home even though Becca got the final rose.
The season finale of 'The Bachelor' saw Arie Luyendyk making a jaw-dropping decision of breaking his engagement to Becca Kufrin in order to be with Lauren Burnham and now he has taken the next big step and asked Lauren to marry him. Looks like the bachelor days for the man have come to an end.
Arie popped the big question to runner-up Lauren on Tuesday’s 'After the Final Rose' special and undoubtedly, she said YES! The event took place in the final minutes of the interview which was being taken by host Chris Harrison. Without wasting any second, Arie quickly got down on his knees and poured his heart out in front of Lauren.
“I’ve made some bad decisions but the best decision was running back to you,” he said. " “I can’t imagine a life without you. … I truly believe you are my soulmate. I’m ready to face this life with you, and all that comes with it. The good, and the bad. I love you so much."
He further added that he wanted to do this in front of everyone because it is something that he believes should have happened long back. "I wanted to do this in front, everyone because I want to show you that I should have done this a long time ago. Lauren Elizabeth Burnham, will you marry me?" he continued.
This shocking proposal comes after Arie decided to break ties with Becca. During the last rose ceremony of the show, viewers got to see that Becca happened to be the lucky one who received the final rose and it was Lauren who was at the other end of a goodbye. However, after returning to the US, Arie realized that he still had feelings for Lauren.
It is then that the former racer decided to turn his fate around and ended things with Becca. In an interview with People, Arie admitted that even after proposing Becca he was not able to forget and he did not think that it was fair to Becca to be in a relationship where feelings such as his were in place. He decided to finally take the big decision of leaving Becca for Lauren when he understood that the feeling was more than just missing someone and it looks like his risk did pay off as Lauren too felt the same.
