Kyrsten Sinema's obsessive stalker arrested outside her office
Man arrested at Representative Kyrsten Sinema's office on suspicion of stalking. He posed as a member of Sinema's campaign team.
Since 2014, Amos Olagunju of Brooklyn, NY has been trying to make contact with Arizona Democratic Representative Kyrsten Sinema, according to a federal official in an affidavit that NBC's News4 I-Team procured. The affidavit also stated that Olagunju has loomed over Sinema since 2014, in spite of multiple warnings from US Capitol Police and two court-ordered injunctions warning him to not make contact with her.
Olagunju was arrested last Friday outside the Democrat's office on the seventh floor of the Longworth House Office Building. He has recently entered a not guilty plea to defend himself against federal charges of stalking. He had reached Kyrsten's DC office claiming to have a meeting with her.
The congresswoman’s aides called the police on Friday to report “Olagunju had arrived in-person at their office and stated he had a meeting with the congresswoman.” US Capitol Police detained him for violating the court-ordered injunction.
Back in 2014, when he was interrogated by the US Capitol Police, he told them that he was a member of Sinema's campaign team.
The News4 I-team reported that Olagunju has been issued two injunctions by the courts advising him not to contact Sinema and to stop stalking her. Also, US Capitol Police has warned him to stop his inappropriate behavior. Federal records show Olagunju was arrested previously in New York for traffic offenses.
Back in 2014, the stalker sent packages to her campaign office, left voicemails on her hardline inbox, requested to volunteer in her campaigns and made an appearance at one of her campaign events in Chandler, Arizona. Olagunju tried over 95 times to "express his love" for Sinema in the same year.
When NBC's team tried to ask her office about the investigation, they redirected all the queries to the US Capitol Police.
Responding to another query, a spokewoman for the US Capitol Police said, “We do not comment on ongoing investigations.”
Having said that, Olagunju was not on any of the weekly persons of interest reports in the Capitol Police Department, according to an insider.
A Facebook page which belongs to Olagunju showed several love posts for Sinema. The Democrat is running for Senator Jeff Flake's open seat in Arizona in this year's midterm elections.
Olagunju has several nicknames for his blonde favorite. These include "lovely blonde," "darling" and "honey" according to his social media posts directed at the Democrat's media accounts, from 2015. One post blatantly said, “Do you know you’re killing me with your love? I have to see your face. I cannot sleep without you. Show me your love spiritually and physically.”
In a Facebook post, Olagunju said, “I believe by this time next year, you will be carrying our baby in Jesus name (Amen).” He has also called himself her “husband to be” in another posting.
Olagunju’s personal lawyer said that the case is still at a developmental stage and that it would not be appropriate to release any unconfirmed details at this juncture.
Amos Olagunju's court date is set for 1:30 pm on Friday for a preliminary hearing.
