Chris Hemsworth admits his successful career damaged his marriage to Elsa Pataky
Chris Hemsworth has stolen the hearts of many women (as well as men) with his talent and his scorching hot looks. Unfortunately for the ladies, Chris did not stay single for a long time after kicking off a career as an actor. In 2010, he and his now wife, Elsa Pataky met at a business meeting.
Chris admired how the two easily communicated with each other and loved the fun side that Elsa carried with herself. After their meeting, the two started dating soon and within a few months, they were married. Recently, in the Australian edition of GQ, Chris opened up about the ups and downs of his relationship with Elsa.
It is in this interview that Chris credited all his success to wife Elsa and also admitted that the way his career catapulted after he married her had strained their relationship a bit. "My wife and I fell in love, had kids, didn't really see each other for a few years, then fell back in love," Chris told the magazine.
Chris admitted that Elsa had sacrificed much more in terms of her career than he had since their marriage. "In terms of work, she's certainly given up more than I have," he added.
Chris was aware that just like every other couple's story, even his wife wanted him to stay back and try to spend more time with the family.
He said, "She'd like me to step back and be at home with the kids more and, of course, I want that too. But I feel like I'm at this crucial point in my career — I've just got to set up for longevity or I'll slip off."
However, since Chris had to spend a lot of time on the sets, it was not possible for him to be there with his family most of the time. He agreed that this put a lot of strain on their relationship. But as they say, true love is hard to forget and something similar happened in case of their relationship.
He also said that it was possible for them to keep the spark alive because every now and then they would go on dates. Especially, if you have kids, having some couple time does not come easily.
He said, "Once you have children, every instinct and every moment of your time is consumed by that."
You've got nothing for each other, so make sure you have a date night even if it's once in a blue moon because of most of the time, you're just too tired and you'd actually prefer to sleep," Chris added.
On multiple occasions, Chris has even mentioned how much he loves to spend time with his wife Elsa and how she makes everything better.
In an interview with TV Week he said, "Each week I find something different, more I love about her. It continues to grow, which is a great thing."
At the same time, when the actor was asked about how they both decided to get married just after a few months of dating, Chris said, "It just made sense to both of us. There was an ease to it neither of us had had before." The two have also shown their unconditional love for each other on their respective social media pages.
In one of the posts made by Chris, he tried to mock the paparazzi who were spreading the news of the couple's split. He wrote, "Looking for a new wife according to @womansdayaus and other misleading outlets! Honey, you still love me right?! @elsapatakyconfidential #thanksfortheheadsup." Here's another Instagram post from Chris' account.
Meanwhile, Elsa posted another picture where she rested her head on Chri's shoulder captioned it as "Always and forever!!". Looking back at the support and love the two have for each other, we are not surprised with the words of Chris in his interview.
